Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Easyjet ONLY

Hi,
I had a flight from Alicante to Manchester cancelled recently, due to French strikes, we were offered seats on the next flight out which was to Glasgow. We accepted. Glasgow is obviously a long way from our intended destination, Manchester, albeit a lot closer than being stuck in Alicante. Can we claim from Easyjet the cost of the hire car that we used to get from Glasgow to Manchester?
Thanks0 -
Easyjet are responsible for your travel to the airport of your original destination, ie Manchester, so yes you can claim the costs back to Manchester. How much later was your replacement flight? And how much later did you actually get back to Manchester than originally scheduled? If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Thanks.
We arrived in Glasgow at 2am on the Tuesday. We should've been in Manchester at 1pm on the Monday. We eventually got to Manchester at 7am on the Tuesday, so only 18hours late.
Would I make this claim direct thru the Easyjet website?0 -
Probably, yes. You may as well put a claim in for compensation under 261/2004. Since you managed to get to Glasgow without ATC poblems. Although was this flight after the French ATC strike finished? If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

I tried to claim and was knocked back due to there was a medical emergency on the previous flight (is this a valid reason?) The captain said that the reason the flight was cancelled was that the crew were out of hours (caused by the emergency). We eventually flew 12 hours later. Was it right to be knocked back?0

Seems a valid claim to me. Read Vaubans guide and send a letter before action to the airline. Try putting your flight details into a flight delay checker like bott & co0

Easyjet flight back from Copenhagen to Luton on Sunday night- was meant to leave at 8:35pm, we didnt end up taking off until well gone 2am..
Apparently a French air strike was the first issue, then were told there were fuel problems at Luton so couldnt refill the plane to come out to us, then were told a member of the cabin crew has become 'un-operational' and needed replacing? Did their batteries run out or something?
Can anyone advise if the above scenario including a 5+ delay warrants compensation from the airline?
Thanks in advance0 -

Hi tizzle,
It sounds like EJ are trying to muddy the water by throwing in lots of possible reasons.
Firstly tho, you did not need to fly through French air space on your flight, so possibly it's a knock on delay but not a directly affected flight due to ATC strike.
A delay of 5 hours would entitle you to compensation providing EJ cannot prove that the flight was delayed due to an EC.
You could, as previously suggested by Justice, put your flight details into a couple of NWNF flight delay calculators. This will indicate if they feel you have a good claim.
Have a read of Vaubans great guide to fully understand the process and background of delay claims then ask any further questions here.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -

Thanks for your response. I actually did try the Bott & Co calculator and it said that I was entitled to €250 compensation, but I want to see what EJ come back to me with first before I allow them to take on my claim. EJ may well hold their hands up and give me the comp I deserve, if not will let Bott do it for me.
