  • I agree that this flight was on time, but i'm suggesting that this was not my flight. We were a party of 4 adults and 4 children who were in palma majorca airport for 12hrs on the date in question.According to Thos Cook tcx3475 was 24mins late which meant it arrived in Glasgow at 1339 hrs. We were still in the airport 12hrs later. We received lunch vouchers from Thos Cook.further confirming the delay.I admit our error re. the flight number but considering a full plane of passengers were delayed surely Thos Cook have the info as to when we all arrived back in Glasgow. Are they duty-bound to give me this info.Just hoping this explains the situation more clearly.Thank you for your reply and hope this might enable you to point me in the right direction. Thank you John

Depends what you mean by 'claims' if you mean a legal claim then the Judge will issue directions on how the case should proceed and what timescales are involved.

If you haven't already read Vaubans excellent guide for more info on how to make a claim.

Some non legal claims 'letters to the airlines' are dealt with quickly, some legal claims, my own have been going on for years.

    Cheers,

  • My husband and I were delayed in February by Thomas Cook airlines when the plane we were waiting for landed and went onto a part of the tarmac not suitable for heavy commercial aircraft and hence sank into it. It then had to be towed out of the hole and then required inspection to ensure no damage had been done. This resulted in approx 8 hours delay at Banjul airport. We were initially waiting on the aircraft for 3 hours before being put back into the airport, we waited for hours with no updates, food or drink.
They did give us a letter explaining what had happened after many hours.
We were given details how to put a compensation claim in, which we did. After around a month, we chased Thomas cook up as we had heard nothing. An e-mail then came stating that we were not entitled to compensation as this was a technical fault due to a part that had been replaced. How do they make that out when we were clearly told and given letters to say that the aircraft went onto a part of the tarmac that it should not have gone onto, so this could of been avoided. So "Technical fault" I think not. Are they just trying to fob us off in the hope that we will accept this?

Yes they are: read my guide and take them to court.
  • Just to inform you that today I have successfully received my compensation into my bank account for a 4.25 hr delay flight TCX8246 Norwich to Palma on 19.06.2012.
I only started my claim on 06.12.2014- at the start I always quoted I wanted compensation paid in Sterling. Initially getting the response that I needed to provide copies of boarding cards and/or invoices I proceed to write to TC with a SUBJECT ACCESS REQUEST under the Data Protection Act 1988. I requested the company forward my all relative documentation the held for my booking. I enclosed a cheque for £10 (Standard fee). The next day I received an email stating don't worry they have all the relative proof they need and returned my unused check.
After prompting TC mid Jan I received an email stating they would be paying me compensation within 28 days and an email with the amount of compensation would be forwarded soon.
I waited 29 days and contacted them by phone. I had never received any email confirming the amount to be paid but assumed correctly that it would be 250 Euros each.
On the phone they confirmed the amount, took my bank details and stated I would receive my compensation within 10 days to my bank account. An email a bit later confirmed this. 5 days later the money £570 which is an exchange rate of 1.31 is in my account.
For the sake of writing a couple of letters and emails and chasing them up it was definitely worth it.
