Paul Hodson - fob off, they are absolute idiots. Don't waste any more time (other than NBA) and just take the idiots to court.

ps Vishal Badadhe you should not allow your name to be associated with such tripe, grow some and tell the people you work for what you think of their stupidity.

    What is NBA

  • I took a flight from Manchester to Barbados 09/11/2014 the flight was subject to a 5 hour delay. Shortly after my return to the UK on 28/11/2014 I submitted my claim by email. I received an email of acknowledgement within a week. On 23/01/2015 I received a response agreeing my claim (no amount stated). I was told this would be calculated and paid within 28 days. Of course the 28 days came and went (20/02/2015). I rang Thomas Cook today and was told that I was entitled to £930 (for 2 of us) and was told I would get my voucher within 10 days. I protested saying that the 28 days had already passed and I wanted to speak to his senior manager, miraculously, I was then told that he had spoken to someone from the accounts department and my voucher would be with me within 5 days. I then realised that he had referred to a voucher and again protested, explaining that I did not want a voucher, but the cash. I was then asked to provide my details to facilitate bank transfer and that this would be actioned tomorrow. However, I am not sure if £930 equates to 1200 euros and whether or not I could claim interest on this amount. I am not convinced either that TC will meet the payment schedule that they have told me. Any other forum users have this experience? And, can anyone tell me whether I can also claim the interest?

No need to protest; just talking to them works equally well.

£930 equates to 1200 euros at a conversion rate of 1.29, which is better than you would get if they converted it today.

No, you cannot claim the interest.

All you have to do now is sit back and celebrate when the money arrives in your bank account.

  • No, you cannot claim the interest.

Actually I believe you can if you were to go the Court route OR you could ask them to pay you interest and if they refused you would issue proceedings, although my personal opinion is accept the offer

£930 is more than 1200 euros at the current exchange rate

Agreed, if you got as far as court you would be able to claim interest (I did it myself), but if TC have already said you are entitled to compensation I think someone would be chancing it to go to court to try to get interest.

As you say, you could always ask...

Also agreed, I think asking a Judge to award interest when TC have already offered to settle without would not be looked on favourably by the Judge..

  • I have been possibly quoting the wrong flight no. in my dealings with Thos. Cook re. a palma to Glasgow flight on 17/07/2011.My daughter ,i think at the time, chose Tcx 3475 on that day. which I think was on time. Where or how can I find the number of the flight that eventually brought us home, after a 12 hr. wait in Palma ,and when I was originally due to fly from the resort?Don't know what site my daughter got the number tcx3475 from but it definitely suited Thos Cook, who are probably correct in their reply that this flight was on time.Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Is this Palma Mallorca? Because if so, it is indeed TCX3475 and it was only 10 mins late into Glasgow (according to flightstats).
