Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Thomas Cook ONLY
Comments

Keep it simple and tell them that, in the light of the decision of the Supreme Court, you believe you have a case for compensation. Offer them 14 days to respond, otherwise you will take legal action. And if they don't respond, take legal action!0

Well well so much for consumer rights! Been 28 days since I got back from my hols and logged a complaint to Thomas Cook about an8 hour delay getting back to GB and missing my flight home to Cornwall. I have been sent 'round the houses' to the degree that the fault lies with the Greek Authorities So make a claim to them?,! Are you kidding me!! Where do I go from here? It cost me ANOTHER plane ticket, lose of a day's pay, and not only that when I receive my credit card statement the airport handlers'Swissport' charged me fir extra luggage when I cancelled my request to carry my case inside for speed and convenience to get my connecting flight, which never happened!!just despair that we as the Great British people that never complain, when we DO it gets us nowhere ! HELP!?,0

This is quite difficult to understand. So please give us the basic facts about what was supposed to happen, what actually happened, why you think it happened, and what you've done about it so far. Then I promise we'll try to help.
If you are also complaining about excess baggage charges or some suchlike then that is a different forum. We do flight delay compensation here!0 -
Just arrived back from court, when I got there a barrister was sat waiting for me.
He asked to speak to me before we went into court and offered the full settlement including 8% interest and full costs.
The order was drafted out and given to the judge who accepted this without hearing the case and TC now have 14 days to pay £2589.53
Not quite my day in front of a judge, but the 4 hearings have been a huge learning curve for me.
I owe a huge thank you to many of you on here, especially Vauban and Batman, without both your help I may have given up after the first hearing when I thought the whole process may have been too big for me.
For people reading this (it may be a little irrelevent now due to recent events), if you are going to start proceedings without the help of a no win no fee leagal team, ensure you understand every part of every ruling in this regulation and if you are unsure ask for help from the excellent people on this excellent forum. Most importantly do not give up!!!!0 -

Hi everyone I wonder if you can help me I went to Egypt' in May 2009 we were delayed 24 hours coming home we got to the airport and then they put it in a hotel and then we went back the next day I tried to claim compensation last December and I was verbally told that we were going to get it I then received an email three days later stating that I was unsuccessful I called them up explaining that they had verbally agreed it. Since the end of October when the rulings have now changed I called up Thomas Cook to be told that I have to keep an eye on their website regarding the compensation. Please can someone advise me which step to take now.I am unsure what to do whether I need to take legal action.0

Hi was due to fly to Cancun July 11th 2013 9.15 am from Manchester Airport.it was delayed over an hour we eventually set off 4 hours into the flight they said we had to turn back to Manchester because of technical fault we arrived back to Manchester airport everyone had to get off and wait in the cafe till 6.12pm we then boarded again to cancun and arrived at the hotel around 1am the next day. so it was about a 9 hour delay with a voucher for£12 for food and drinks. I have been on the Thomas cook complaints page and quoted the EU reg261/2004 I then filled in my details of the journey and they say they will get in touch with me, is this all I need to do or should I do something else.
I was also on this flight that was turned back 3 hours out due to a radar fault.
I have had 2 standard rejection letters in the past from Thomas Cook and therefore filled a complaint form in on the CAA website 7 months back.
I have not heard from them yet but it was stated on the site it may take several months to reply due to the backlog.
Last week I wrote a third letter to Thomas Cook stating that in light of the recent court case rulings they are obliged to pay out .
I am still awaiting a reply on this and will keep you up to date.
The aircraft G-OMYT had a long history of previous faults in the months up to this flight including 3 engine failures resulting in 2 emergency landings (one in Iceland and one in Southern Ireland)
The right engine fan disintegrated on takeoff at Manchester airport 2 weeks before this flight and the footage is on YouTube.
The amount of faults with this aircraft were well above the norm and points to it being poorly maintained.0
