  • hi can anyone advise me I have been offered £664 compensation in a form of a voucher is this standard to accept or is there an alternative way to ask for cash

The 'standard' is for them not to pay! The alternative way to ask them for cash is to tell them that they haven't read the numerous posts on the MSE forum.

they have accepted responsibility on paper and offered voucher is it possible they can retract the offer if I ask for the cash with cash I can get a better holiday deal
  • Cardiff to dalaman tcx7924 22nd September 2014any one out there got any info please
  • After reading lots of posts about Thomas Cook not paying out, I must be one of the lucky ones. After being delayed in Cuba in Dec 2010 for 24 hrs (spent in our room at the hotel!), I decided to try for compensation. I used the link from Martins site and filled out the very simple form on the Thomas Cook website. I was not expecting to get anything but was pleasantly surprised to receive an email last weekend saying that they had awarded me £1449 compensation in the form of a travel voucher. However, after some research on the internet, I emailed Thomas Cook and told them I wanted the money not a voucher. I am currently awaiting a Bacs transfer for the amount, which they said can take up to 10 days. I am very happy with this result and after an awful year, am looking forward to a good christmas :j Has anyone else got compensation so easily?

Sorry to put a downer on this but we have also been promised a bacs transfer and almost 4 weeks later still have nothing, I spoke to customer services who said they would put an urgent on it and would send me an email on Monday 27th Oct, no email has arrived, and still no money. They are very good at fobbing you off with a pack of lies, I am now ringing them tomorrow, during office hours as they are taking the "p". Will post here how I get on.

this very question has been asked over 100 times on this thread alone by others that have also not read the thread or the FAQs -
you say "I don't want a voucher, I want cash!"

Did you pay with a voucher?!? EXACTLY, no of course you didn't - then you should be reimbursed in cash
  • After waiting over a month for a reply from TC following a 23 hour delay to a flight to Crete on 19 September 2014 (due to a technical fault), I have just received the standard bull---- letter:(

Technically the information they state they adhere to with regard to flight delays is basically null and void and by refering to some 'years old' court case they appear to be in the clear to continue not having their aircraft maintained as they should be.

It's a sorry state of affairs where you have major disruption to a holiday you have saved long and hard for with no recourse for compensation - and let's face it, Thomas Cook are too big to give a damn.

I suspect they will apply for a stay at the death. What does the court bundle give as an excuse?

Not got the exact wording on me, but something to do with the wear of the rotor blades on the engine. They say the took the engine off another plane a couple of weeks before the event and that it was unforeseen, they have an email from Rolls Royce which states that the problem has never happened before in the Trent 700 project and then try to baffle me with graphs.

They then have a witness statement from people within TC saying that the incident is not inherent in the running of an aircraft.

Please tell me, how many aircraft can fly without an engine!

As long as the appeal to SC re Huzar is not granted ( or Jet2 lose the appeal, if granted leave) then the above is irrelevant.
So just hang on for now, unless you are potential time limited by 6 years approaching ( or 2 if Dawson appeal granted/won)
If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
