...... and today get an email with a £1300 holiday voucher (€400 per person)!!
Very happy with that....next years holiday fund off to a flyer! :j

Don't forget you can ask for cash and that way your 2015 holiday fund could be spent with any company rather than the one which delayed you ie Thomas Cook.

Thanks for that but it's fine, I did read that but the wife has already looked on Thomas Cook website and decided we are going Euro Disney with the kids! :)

    Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, (but its my first ever post so please be patient!)

I was delayed 13+ hours on a Thomas Cook Flight in 2011, i tried to claim from Thomas Cook, they said I had no claim, so i pursued it with the CAA, who came back in May this year to say they agreed, however with the court ruling last month I decided to then resubmit my claim to Thomas Cook, and they again turned me down on Technical grounds, so I requested information on the planes fault that caused the delay, I have pasted below their response, do any other Forum users know if I am being fobbed off or flogging a dead horse?
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Will

    Thomas Cook Latest Response:

Thank you for your further email dated 13/07/2014

I am aware that you are unhappy with the decision that has been made.

As per my previous email, I am confident that the right decision has been made based on the information available. I have reviewed your case and as a result of this I continue to think the decision made is fair and accurate.

Please find below the information we get from the airline:

G-TCCB required a No1 engine change following the discovery of an oil leak that was none repairable on wing. Increased oil consumption was first recorded but not identified 07/08 and within manual limits. On the morning of 08/08 it was recorded as close to limits and a leak was identified. Oil consumption is closely monitored by the Powerplant department and throughout the months prior it was normal (LOW). Replacement engine arrived from Germany the morning 11/08 at MAN

If you do remain unhappy with the decision, your complaint can be considered under ABTA’s Arbitration Scheme. There is a charge for using this scheme and this can be up to £264.00. Full details of this scheme can be found online at abtas website, alternatively their address is:

    ABTA Ltd
    30 Park Street
    London
    SE1 9EQ

I hope I have now clarified our final position on your case and am sorry that I have been unable to resolve this to your satisfaction. I hope that you do choose to travel with us again in the future.

wab371 - you have a valid claim - forget ABTA/CAA but read FAQ's Page one and this thread.

Shocking. They know this has nothing to do with ABTA and the charge mentioned looks like a way of trying to frighten you off.

  • Hi am a newbie not sure if I'm posting this right but here goes. we booked to Turkey in May with Thomas cook . Our flight was at 7 a.m. we got to Manchester Airport at 4 a.m. when we got to the check in we were told the flight had been rescheduled and wouldn't be taking off until 3.45pm. We were told we'd just have to wait .One of the reps said we could go into Manchester to do a bit of shopping!!!!!!The upshot we waited in airport which didn't help my husband as he has poor health. We were not told by anybody of the flight changes (who in their right mind would get up at that hour to sit for all that time in an airport!!!!)My question is how do we go about compensation. Any help would be great. The flight number was TCX2774 to Dalaman. There was 2 other couples in the same predicament. Thanks

Ozzy - you need to read through all the FAQ. - It takes a while. This is not a letter writing exercise after the first couple. Or use the services of a NWNF company.
If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Was anyone on this forum on any of these flights over the last week or so.. We were on the outbound flight on the 5th and inbound flight on the 12th and suffered delays of 4hrs and over 13hrs respectively...

Very interested to hear from anyone on these flights, particularly anyone on the TCX1866 from Gatwick on the 12th, as we'd love to know what reasons Thomas Cook gave to you for the VERY late departure out to Izmir..??

Thomas Cook shouldn't be allowed to get away with continuing to run aircraft that are over 13 years old, and apparently very likely to break down without having adequate back up plans in place..!!

If you are advised that you are travelling on either G-JMAA or G-JMAB then keep your fingers crossed....
