I calculate 2934 km which equates to 400€ x 2 = 800€ so £672 in cash (not vouchers) is about right. Post should be on TC thread with full flight details to help others.

Me and my Husband were delayed for over 8 hours on our honeymoon to Lanzarote on 1 September 2011. We received 2 update letters whilst at the aiport with revised departure times on saying that unavoidable operational circumstances was the cause of our delay.

I complained to Thomas Cook on return from our holiday and got what appears to be a standard response back saying that factors outside of their control like technical problems or weather conditions can cause delay to flights. They said that there is no provision within legislation within the Airline Industry to make compensation payments if a flight is delayed and that we should contact our insurance company to make a claim. At no point in the letter did they address what the actual cause of the delay was.

Now, from my Mum telling me about seeing Martin Lewis on TV talking about claiming compensation for flight delays, I have today sent a claim through the Thomas Cook website.

I'm not holding out too much hope by looking at other posts in this forum but feel it is defo worth a try as we lost out on half a day of our honeymoon and we was only there for 1 week!

Was anybody else on this same flight?

I have been offered a voucher for £672.00 as a full and final settlement for 2 persons for a flight from Dalaman to Birmingham with a delay of 22 hours. I will be rejecting the offer as I think I will be entitled the maximum of 1200 euros( this was what I claimed for originally) I will also be requesting the settlement in cash. The voucher I received has to be used by Jan 2015. Any advice before I sent the email please?

For the voucher, I emailed quoting:

As I have not signed an agreement to receive the compensation in travel vouchers, please could I have the compensation paid via electronic bank transfer as stated in Article 7 Right To Compensation:

3. The compensation referred to in paragraph 1 shall be paid in cash, by electronic bank transfer, bank orders or bank cheques or, with the signed agreement of the passenger, in travel vouchers and/or other services.
• Thanks for your replies. I thought that I had followed guide put on this website to calculate amount of compensation. I will recheck then send email asking for a cheque.:o
• Hi, I am hoping someone can help me.
My (now) husband and I went to Cuba in February 2009 with Thomas Cook. We left from Gatwick and about 3 hours into the journey we were told we would have to go back, but we would be going back to Manchester.
Once we got back to Manchester, we were not allowed off the plane, and were told we had to wait for new air cabin crew. We were waiting for approx 2 hours (i think).
We eventually left and made it to Cuba. We were told that we had to go back because the airline did not have the correct paperwork and without it the plane would be unable to leave Cuba again.

Now I complained when we first got back from our holiday, and was told to go through our insurance (I didnt) but I understand the rules have now changed.

The problem is, I cannot remember the exact dates/or have the booking number! I phoned Thomas Cook the other day, and someone was supposed to ring me back, but surprise, surprise nobody did.

Any advise???
Trying my hardest to change...
