  • Wow, so much been done! I'm possibly being too hard on myself as I was a bit down about not completing everything I'd set out to do, but my 4wk old baby is having a growth spurt, which ties me to the sofa as she's breastfed.

We are taking the older 2 to see Madagascar 3 and out for lunch tomorrow, but my list to do tomorrow is

1/ thank you letters - need to buy notepaper to do these on
    2/ DD's room tidy
    3/ clean windows
4/ register for SA tax return online
5/ preschool newsletter and fee increase; pay hall rental bill
    6/ finish fingerless gloves
7/ declutter hallway and find a large box to store hats/gloves/scarves as we are always losing these!
8/ cooking with DD - she's been asking for a couple of days and I keep saying I'm too busy. Bad Mum...

    Off to bed now.
  • Can I ask what S&S means please? And what is HHI?

    I assume WM/DW means washing machine/dishwasher.

I forgot to add in my previous post that homes have been found for most presents, floors are decluttered (mostly!), and swept downstairs. I have cleaned the toilets, which I do daily anyway. I haven't meal planned though :o

    S&S - swish and swipe
    HHI - half hour ironing.

If you havent looked at it before, this is this weeks link -

The idea is that you can aim for whichever level you like.

  • ETA: Brummiebabe, I was in awe when you posted that you would sort the kids clothes, plus all the shoes, in one day. They are two jobs that I need to do, but I think the first will take a day on its own. You did well to complete what you did, especially with making a roast dinner as well. And don't worry about he washing. It definitely breeds, so even when you think you have washed everything, you will turn round and there will be yet more stuff to wash :rotfl:

Thanks kingfisher.....I just a mad with myself as both really need doing!!! And as for the washing......I have no idea how you can have an empty basket at night and it's over flowing again in the morning...how does it happen???:rotfl:Oh...and I can't take the credit for the dinner....DH cooked it for me;)

  • DD2 has joined me in bed - lovely that she comes to Mummy for cuddles after a sleep wander but not when I am trying to sort the diaries out! That'll teach me for trying to get ahead with tomorrow's list. I'm going to wait until she is fast asleep again then carry her back to bed - until then I'll continue to type in the dark

At least your washing makes it to the basket - most of mine just makes it to the floor :o

I have now trained all three kids to put all washing in front of the washing machine, but despite my best efforts, I can guarantee that some will be left in the place that they stripped off. In my older son's case, this could be anywhere in the house - but at least he doesn't strip outside any more

(for those who don't know, my older son is disabled and has learning difficulties. He has always taken his clothes off, but now just lifts his top up instead - he is very proud of his scars and loves to show them off :rotfl:. Mind you, my friend's daughter doesn't lift her own top, she tries to lift other people's )
  • Hi, I've come to join after reading the whole thread!
Married with 1 little one and 2 cats oh works ft out of the house for normally 13 hours a day so i do most things. I also sell avon and will we working18 hours as well as this from next week.
I struggle with keeping on top of stuff and then get overwhelmed so looking for tips!
Can't remember who mentioned washing different colour pe kits separately but you should try the colour catcher sheets, I've been using tescos version and they are fantastic :-)
Has anyone sen those floor sweepers that are also steamers?
Need to hoover/clean floors more and thought this would be easier maybe?

Morning, got loads done yesterday. As I said we move on the 14th of Jan. I'm limited with time as I'll be working everyday next week. So yesterday I got the tree and Christmas decorations down. The place is bare, but at least that done thing organised and put away.

I also managed to pack 4 boxes in DD1 room, 2 in DS/DD2 room and 1 from the hall with shoes and boots. Still loads to do, but it's a good start.
I'm waiting for Space bags arriving this morning (hopefully) so I can start With the clothes and spare duvets etc that we don't need right now.

    Things to do today are-

Pack up recipe books and some glasses from the welsh dresser.

    Vacuum pack clothes and duvets.

    Clean bathroom and Hoover.

Book car into garage to see what the funny clunking noise was. :(

That's enough for today. DD has marked off all the films off she wants to watch today with us.

We are having a wee party with the kids at tea time. With nice nibbles and fun drinks (cola floats, yum!)

If I don't get back on, hope you all have a wonderful New year x

  • Hi all,
just a quick de-lurk to say, very impressed with all your lists!

The last 2 days I've started a new habit (have tried in the past but never kept it going...) Which is that after dinner both OH and I spend 10 mins cleaning and tidying.
Doesn't sound much, but a bit of background:
I'm allergic to housework, but for OH it doesn't even come anywhere on his radar! He is also one of the most untidy people I know....He works mostly from home, receives loads of admin and other stuff in the post and the house can become totally buried in it after a short time. Sometimes I can't even get round to cleaning because all the time is spent sorting out piles of stuff.... (and now with all the toddler/baby stuff too...)
(Also I have to say OH is very sweet, works incredibly hard and long hours and will do everything with the kids - feeding/changing/washing/playing/etc. Just housework/cooking is an enormous blind spot!)

So this 10 min tidy up has been really helping - especially our "hot spot" dumping ground (dining table).... It's just a matter of discipline as we both usually just slump on the couch after dinner!

I just have one job to do this morning, or over the next day or 2 (depending how much feeding the baby needs!):
We're getting black spots between tiles in the bathroom - I've now got all the stuff to clean and treat it.

    Happy New Year all!
