Welcome to the last flylady thread of 2012

This week we will be starting gently working up to being back on track next week. Welcome aboard if you are new, jump straight in with whichever day you join (don't worry about catching up or reading every post)

May I wish each and everyone of you, regulars, oldies, newbies, returners a very Happy 2013 full of laughter, love and not too much dust

.................................................................................................

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Link to last week's thread

There are 3 levels per day with Level 1 being very basic, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. Feel free to mix and match to suit your own personal circumstances.

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

    Thanks Dusty

I'm in this week - I want to try and get as much done as possible before I go back to work next week. Clothes now all sorted - I just need to put them away in my wardrobe now.

Thanks Dusty. Please can you add me to the ironing list. Its only got things from the summer still in it, but I would like to see it empty.

I have a day off tomorrow so this is my list:

    Sort out broken tablet pc
    Book car in for service
Count blessings of 2012 and list in diary thread
Re-do meal plan for week (have huge cooked beef joint and no one to feed it to now - can I freeze it in slices in gravy maybe?)
    Clean WM filter
    HHI
    S&S toilets
Chill something fizzy (DH is doing champagne breakfast on NY day)
    Hoover/sweep/mop through house
    S&S sinks

    Catch up with washing.
Spend less now, work less later.
  • thank you for the lists i think ill be back in properly wednesday but have made a not of tomorrows lst and plan on a major tidy through before the new year starts

i wont do laundry new years eve or new years day as mum always used to say youd wash someone in or out and i wont risk it.

i did finish all the ironing i had in the basket when the challenge was set but a little has come in dry since then so ill call it a success.

have already started meal planning, found a recipie for using up veggies and masehed pots by making fritters they went down very well boxing day followed by 'christmas soup' the day after. as you will guess christmas soup contains anything left over from the main meal of christmas. we are veggie so its usually sprout parsnip and carrots. made the mistake of blending it last year it tasted lovely but looked minging. the kids flat refused to touch it.

have a lovely new years eve however you celebrate and i hope next year is kind to everyone

  • Can I join you? It's been a couple of years since I dabbled with this thread before and I need to keep on track this time.

I've done most of the ironing today and aim to start 2013 with an empty basket.

The house is kind of together and I want to keep it that way.

    Happy New Year.

Thank you for starting the new thread, dusty - I'm in. Even I should be able to have a good go at tomorrow's list.

Ironing will depend on DH - he is working first thing, but will come home if it's too quiet. Not many people will be desperate to have their hair cut after a week off. I've suggested that he gets the ironing done if he's home. :D

I'm going to the shops at some point (lidl and aldi) and I still need to find out what we should take to NN's for tomorrow night. Also have to plan tea for DH (and DS1, depending on his plans).

It's not been a very productive day today, despite good intentions. Will try to do something, at least - sorting clean laundry and/or budget. You never know, I might get carried away once I've made a start. ;)
  • Thanks for the list Dusty, i'll be jumping in..
