  • Can I join in too please? I work FT with a 4.5 yr old DD. I'm great at starting things but not finishing them off - at work and at home, so my monthly challenge in January (gave up on NY resolutions years ago) is to actually finish tasks I start and start being more organised.
I'm going to start how I mean to go on - get my bag and lunch ready for work tomorrow - thank goodness for school hols this week!
    :)
  • Today's tip from me - when changing the beds, use the pillow cases to dust the bedroom. Then goes straight in the wash :-)

Didn't do everything I wanted, but I did get more done than normal. I can see the bottom of the laundry basket and I have put away loads!

Sadly I have remembered that "do tax return" needs to be added to the list...
  • My plan of the day:

    [STRIKE]1. Ironing - 1 hour [/STRIKE]

[STRIKE]2. Homemade parsnip soup with toast to make for lunch[/STRIKE]

[STRIKE]3. New Monthly resolutions - baby steps rather than making New Years resolutions which will be broken. Look into blogging about my successes (or failures)[/STRIKE] I've started a Debt Free Diary on here rather than blogging - started too many blogs and forgotten passwords. Here is my diary.

    4. Out for a walk - DD1 is laid in bed feeling very poorly so this won't be done today.

[STRIKE]5. Xmas cards down and made into tags

    6. Bedding washed and dried[/STRIKE]

Hooray!!! Just celebrating having crossed everything off the list I wrote this morning :T

I have a calendar, kids timetables, shopping list and kids fine list on the fridge.

Filofax, includes diary, addresses, quotes, calendar, lists, maps etc, with a place at the front for tickets, school letters that i need to find in the future, dates in diary.

Small notebook to do list that goes with me in my handbook, to dos at the front, to buys at the back, add and look at daily.

Trick i think is not to have too much stuff, so i go through and refine, filter everything and get rid of duplicates, excess and tat.

Ironing, partner does his own, i do mine and kids, although 16yr old is going to take over her own next year in readiness for uni, she already does hers sometimes and will pay her to do sons if shes in the mood.

washing up gets done after a meal, partners quite particular about putting everything back in cupboards, i tend to leave to drain. Im in training re this, chuckle.

washing, night mare tumble drier was getting fixed, washing machine only quick cycle worked so washing everywhere, have bought wm so that will be sorted soon, and partner managed to fix the td, so alls well, just catching up now and utility is starting to resemble normaility.

filing gets ticked off a computer spreadsheet and put in my filing drawer until full and i have an afternoon to do filing. Presently going through all payments to see where i can make savings. so far have saved 26ukp a month, went through life insurance files last night and decided to leave as they are, but got rid of excess paper.

kids rooms get tidied generally sundays, at least once a month before pocket money can be dished out, always an incentive!

I find changing beds hard work but generally all get changed on a regular basis, but at different times. ie kids one week ours the next. Get them to strip their own, and make them up if keen.

I have spreadsheets to keep an eye on milk deliveries, finances etc, amazon wish lists for present buying for everyone - this is brill and saves me so much stress shopping.

Cards are all bought for next year and kept in cupboard till needed. must get some general ones as the kids catch me out with friends birthdays etc and end up spending a fortune in the coop down the road.

I am pretty organised, but as soon as i sort one thing theres always something else that needs to be done, my little book is a godsend, the least little thing goes in there, and it doesnt get forgotten then.

    happy organising folks. nice thread

  • Can I join please?

I have just had 1 year off maternity leave and now continuing as a full time house wife / mother. Bit scared that I won't be earning any of my money and totally reliant on OH so this thread is perfect.

    Looking forward to getting sorted.
  • Hello ladies,

Well dont everyone on all your hard so far. Hope everyone has had a little drink and a sit down too!
I spent most of yesterday in school sorting and preparing the classroom for next term. Hurt my back in the process :/
Today I spent a few hours catching up with a friend and doing some shopping, then been home cleaning and sorting since. Can tick off sorting out DS room off the checklist as well as cleaning the bathroom (including scrubbing the toilet, yuk).

Only job left for tonight is to transfer all the dates from the old calander to the new one.

Me too, well I've been off since march and had our little girl in August.. I'm now a SAHM and like you won't be earning any money, so really need to sort everything out so it doesn't feel so hard
  • Jobs to be done this week, going to try get as much done tomorrow as possible, as some jobs lead directly to other exciting jobs.

~ return asda clothes - DS got a lot of 0-3month clothes for Xmas, going to see if they will exchange for bigger sizes without receipts

    ~ book 6wk doctors appointment

~ book family planning - one child is enough for now!

~ ikea photo frames - spending my Xmas money on some frames, we have no pictures on display and makes our house look a little unloved.

~ council tax bill/bank statement - being environmentally friendly, we have no paper bills, which is unhelpful when CRB checks demand bills for proof of address.

~ post car log book - registering car in OH's name as his uni graduation present

~ book car service - got services from groupon and intended to have them done before DS was born, oops!
Taking on the world one debt at a time!!!

    Buy my car outright £0/£3300
    Buy a caravan £0/£7500
    Replace house windows £0/£5000

  • This weekend I have been soo organised and got loads of stuff done!!!

I've listed 42 items on ebay, currently on £15 worth of sales (excluding P&P).
I've cleared out the food cupboard, thrown away old stuff (Ainsley Harriot Kofta kit best before Aug 10 anyone?!?!?) and inventoried. Stuck up a sheet of paper on inside of cupboard so if I or OH thinks of anything we need, it'll be added there.
I've mealplanned until next payday (20th). I did this last month and spent only £200 on food/drink for 2 adults and 2 children! Bargain compared to what it was in the past! Still got to food shop - will do that Tues/Wednesday - got enough in until then anyway.
I've also cleared out the 'poo' cupboard which was just a dumping ground for allsorts. Its now got all the kitchen equipment and cooking books on.
2 bags of clothes are sorted for the cash for clothes place, one bag of blankets etc has gone to the local animal sanctuary and 3 bags ready for the tip!

One load of washing done and hung out and one about to go in.

I'm exhausted just writing it all down!! LOL!
Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:
