It used to be that when Apple announce a new iOS, my facebook page will be flooded with updates regarding how great the new iOS is going to be etc.... This time round, I think only 1 of my friend mentioned iOS6 and that is because he works in the IT industry and I think he does do lots of beta test/app development...... Sad days for Apple (TGM)

Why is that? Cos we write the truth on here?
    Or we dare to answer?
What you don't see is that we back up your excitement, just that users of other devices have enjoyed those features for a long time, Apple are finally catching up :D

Just because Apple are adding features that other providers have had for a long time, doesnt meen Apple are not innovative. They have been at the forefront of technology for many years. Its a fact I'm afraid. I love apple products, personally, and I dont like Android or windows as a platform. Apple seems to 'just work'. It so intuitive, and the Apps are better. (more of them, better quality)

Haven't Apple single handedly put Macromedia (Flash) out of business (no one will use Flash anymore...Everything is going to HTML5. Why? Because Apple dont use Flash.)
Also, aren't Apple the reason that Blackberry have moved away from the mobile phone market?
Its a shame for all those developers that have spent the time and money developing sat nav applications.

If its powered by TomTom, I'd imagine they have done most of the work. Apple developers wills till be working on the iPhone bits...Dont worry about that!!

The last article I saw had the iPhone parts costed around USD185........Other reports say that Apple makes $300 profit per iPhone!

Is that with the revenue from Apps and D/L's included?

Didnt Playstation make a loss on every PS3 they sold? If they sold it at the cost it was to make, no one would buy it. But now people have to pay nearly £50 a game...Android/Apple or Windoze, they all make a decent profit from eith the phone hardware or all subsequent software, but they all get their money. I'd rather give it to Apple personally, becuase the software works so well and the hardware is amazing and just...pretty.

Although, I do worry that in 10 years you will be able to shop in only two places. Tesco and the App store.

Or worse, they'll merge and become iTesco.

The choice of phones and os is always a good thing. That's how new functions are added.

However reading some of the posts I think whenever Apple introduces a new version of iOS, Android fans will protest that Google's operating system has long had most of the new features. I don't blame them for saying that. The Android fans forget one important thing, Apple may be late to a party, but iPhone users really don't care. When Apple finally delivers the feature, they'll get a better experience than Android users.

Even Google have a function called iGoogle.

Well said. Android do have some features sooner than Apple. But the Apple feature, when released, is very good quality.

Cant really speak for the quality of android apps as the OS has always put me straight off...

Actually, now I think about it... I think you will find that most of the 'new' features have been available on jailbroken iPhones long before google offered a poor version of it. Dev's have been making open source apps for years for the iPhone, which then later become standard tech.

The jailbroken iPhone is like Android with better functions. You can install 3rd party apps. Same as what you can with Android and also have top quality apps from Apple.

I have used many Android phones. The problems are:
    1. Updates are difficult to get. May need to wait many months.
    2. A lot of apps don't work with all phones. For example the Sky Go app only works with a few Android phones. How sad would be if you find out after buying the Android phone you can't use many apps.
    3. The malware is a big problem. So many people have been tricked into receiving text messages at the cost of £5 each.

You do realise that i(something) is not started by Apple? Probably not.... since everything is started by Apple.

I do not think a jailbroken iphone should be use in any comparison as it is not Apple's intention to have jailbroken phone, else it would be available from Apple themselves.

I think same thing could be said from user of other platforms. iOS put me off and just doesn't work for me. And the fraud from iTunes put me off buying apps from them. Ah well.... the cycle continues :D

On Android, BBC iPlayer forces you to keep the screen lit and iPlayer on top, or it stops playing. Bonkers for listening to catch up radio!
