What I can't understand is why Android users are keen prove why their phone is better then iPhone?
The whole world knows that Apple is a one model phone company and still sells more units then many companies put together.
The reason is due to easy of use. Every function is well implemented.

I don't think you're looking at this from outside apples reality distortion field.

I think I'm looking at this from a fair and balanced point. Im not in a position to rewrite history and how things have played out for Apple.
Others seeing the demand for this type of product create there own, due to customer demand (which I might add you have user to justify extortionate iphone prices).

Exactly, they follow Apple's lead. What I'm calling for is more than just Apple to do the leading though. I want other companies to innovate in the same way Apple does instead of just following the Apple formula. We'd have a much more innovative environment if other company's would do this.

They don't though, it is only you (on here that stakes out to prove that your iphone is the best) at least the others put logical reasoning behind their viewpoints, what is easier to use on an iphone?
naturally many millions of users of other devices are able to operate them without any fuss or bother, I'm sure many iphone users are not somewhat !!!!!!.
As for one model company? Not quite true really is it? People may want a larger screen or smaller device at least they have a choice, it is hard to deny the current flagship models of some brands are technically superior to apple iphones at present.

It's usually the case that it takes Apple to show everyone else how to do things; digital content distribution, MP3 players, smartphones, tablets, ultra-portable laptops etc. Apple went, everyone else followed in all of the above.

Apple didn't show anyone how to do smartphones, they showed how to create an intuitive (capacitve) touchscreen user interface and that's it.

I would make the argument that the Nokia N95 showed everyone what a smartphone should be in terms of features. It was the first phone with GPS/Sat Nav built in, first with a quality 5 megapixel camera, had DLNA built in, and could (and still can) run native 3rd party apps not to mention all the other now standard smartphone features.

Again, have a look at these links if you want innovation - http://swipe.nokia.com/design/ http://www.nokia.com/global/products/phone/808pureview/

The Ericsson R380 was the first smartphone - http://stevelitchfield.com/sshow/ss167.html

The Nokia N95 was problably the first mass market smartphone, everyone had one!

    No company does.
It's purely commercial decisions that have nothing to do with being innovative and liking/disliking innovations. All companies do this if they if they have some grounds and if this is commercially viable.

If a company like apple existed when apple was first opening the garage doors to the world apple wouldn't have made it passed the threshold of those doors.
Well, at least he had guts to admit this openly. Other companies do this too, but secretly.
It also makes him a hypocrite.

"Every function is well implemented" don't make me laugh!!!!! TGM is what apple inspires in people at least with some you can have a reasoned discussion.

I'm simply pointing out the iphone wouldn't be here without the innovations/inventions of others (Something conveniently forgotten by apple and its fans).

I'm not the norrow minded apple hating fanatic people try and make out I am; I freely admit the smart phone market wouldn't be where it is with out apples "innovation" years and years ago.

What I don't appreciate it apple and its fans trying to pretend apple somehow shape computing/technology as a whole. The way things are now are how things have always developed.

Someone invents something, another improves on it, someone else improves on that and so on.

What apple, its fans and you are saying is someone invents something, apple happen on an improvement for it... and thats where it should end.

I think we've gone over the fact that apple, years ago, produced and marketed something that changed the smartphone market.

Now its safe to say they are not leading and simply playing catchup.

I don't think so; we'd be in the midst of a very different market if it weren't for Apple. Some people don't give Apple anywhere near enough credit for how much they've shaken up the markets they've entered. We've benefited massively as consumers because of this due to the sheer amount of competition and variation that Apple's entry into a market creates.
Now its safe to safe they are not leading and simply playing catchup.

Not by my books; I'm still waiting for a product that matches the iPhone's quality and experience. Samsung seem to be getting the closest and they seem to be slowly beginning to understand that it's about the experience offered, not the hardware, but I don't think they've quite got there yet. Microsoft have started to understand this too as can be witnessed by Windows Phone. I don't think either of them are quite at Apple's level yet though.

Before iphone came out, I was using XDA Orbit as my PDA, music player, GPS, games (little choice then I might add).... Only thing lacking was app and the touchscreen that we are used to now (stylus anyone?).

I remember when a friend of mine was asking me to switch over to an iphone (or smartphone) when he saw me using my XDA.... I have been doing what a smartphone could do for a while now (without apps and swipe screen), and turn by turn non data required GPS TOMTOM system.

I agree that Apple made the whole smartphone thing better, but they are not the one that invented smartphone. Other companies are now making smartphone usage even better than Apple, and I really would not consider that as them copying, but rather making it better, just like what Apple did before.

Apple have only ever lead in terms of user interface and even those days are numbered. They're still playing catchup, adding features the iPhone should have had in 2009 like sat nav.

If its only me than why am I reading comments from android fanboys going on about how iPhone is crap and the android phones are the best. Also calling other phone users dumb and idiot.

It's not only me, is it?
