I would argue the free market and choice is not something apple is interested in what with it suing everyone in direct competition with it (rather than competing) or conspiring with others to keep prices artificially high....
but ....
chester we have found something we agree on - now don't let it happen again.0 -

And I'd argue that Apple are pro free market and choice, and that what they're not interested in is other company's not innovating and trying to ride the coattails of their success. I think we'd have a vastly more diverse smartphone market if companies stopped simply following Apple's lead. Stop simply trying to produce iPhone/iPad/MacBook Air competitor products and come up with something genuinely new and innovative instead!0 -

You'd be foolish to let that influence you're buying decision. You also wouldn't be ale to buy any product as all platforms have their fair share of trolling cult members.
I think foolish is a bit strong, but I too (if the hardware was up with other sytems) would not get aniphone for now as it does attract stigma.

.
Many Android phones have a better hardware but somehow more people prefer iPhone. Another example is Windows Phone, may not have the most powerful hardware available, still many people like the os.
The reason Android need the faster hardware is, many phone companies put their stuff on top of the Android os which slow down the systemI was not going to bother changing from Gingerbread to ICS as I understood it requires 1gb RAM for 'true' functionality?
I hesitated before I upgraded from Gingerbread to ICS due to reports of sluggish behaviour to battery drain on the Note.
This is what I mean. The update from one version to another on Android is so slow even with the good hardware. The Samsung note is less then one year old.0 -

This is what I mean about stigma attached to certain owners of a device, between the lines you do admit th iphone is not the most technically advanced, then you use words like most irrationally, MOST smartphone users don't own an iphone FACT, MOST new purchases of a smartphone are not an iphone FACT. There is the old saying "if it ain't broke, then don't fix it" gingerbread and even 2.1 works fine. iphones didn't upgrade the iOS without issue or did you forget that? It is no different with PCs a 10 year old 600mhz machine with 128mb ram will not run windows 7 and perhaps some machines will not update to windows 8 when it arrives.
So to summarise your post, most iphone users prefer an iphone, but most of the mobile market don't prefer an iphone0 -

And that is different from the report of battery drainage on iOS5, the wipe all phone contacts and settings update etc...... This is what lots of ppl meant about some fanboy (I will say this does not just apply to Apple, but seems to be at the moment), they jump onto one thing about other platform and completely ignore their own problems0 -

Typically this recent thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3938245 is an example of malicious apps that are supposed to be rigourously checked and not enered onto itunes, and the app permissions do not allow such practice :eek:0 -
