I don’t think so.
The Apple have the image because of good user experience, not good user experience because of image.
You clearly have not been on the Apple Support Communities where they have been upgrade issues from iOS3 to iOS4, and from iOS4 to iOS5. The same applies for OSX upgrades. I waited a while before upgrading my old 3GS from iOS3 to iOS4 due to the masses of issues on Apple's own Support Community (forum). Likewise I only upgraded from Leopard to SL 6 months ago as I wanted the Mac App Store. The user experience isn't always as polished as the fanboys make out, take time to read Apple's support community where you get the diehard begging Apple to fix certain issues. iTunes Match seems to be a big bugbear at the moment!!
Andorid is not immune and I hesitated before I upgraded from Gingerbread to ICS due to reports of sluggish behaviour to battery drain on the Note.0 -
Are you arguing with me and agreeing? What you say was exactly my point. The price that Apple allegedly 'dictate' is in fact the price that the market is prepared to pay.
What works for Apple is not reducing the price through out the life cycle. This way it's customers will not wait monts to buy, most if possible will get the Apple product within a few weeks in return Apple get the lot more news coverage which will increase the sell.
I am sure most companies would love to copy Apple but somehow it only works for them.0 -

I was not going to bother changing from Gingerbread to ICS as I understood it requires 1gb RAM for 'true' functionality?0 -

In case of bug which can happen to any os somehow Apple is able to action and correct them much quicker than Android os.0 -

If you read the post above , yes the problems do exist for Apple products, how come iOS6 is not available for all iphone varieties?
And of course it is not a problem I'm content with GB on my xperia Ray, I am asking out of curiosity0 -

Not true as when iOS4 was released it was claimed to be compatible with the 3GS. Many problems were reported from slowing down phone or even bricking it (Apple's own Support Community). For some, upgrade was straight forward and for others it caused major problems. For those affected future upgrades offered no improvement. Apple play it big about controlling both hard and software for a seamless experience. It was at least 6 months before I dared upgrade and I was ok.
Others mention superior design, yes Jobs/Ive are genius but this backfired on them with the grip of death. A problem that the Apple techies warned them about but Jobs/Ive put design before technical functionality.
Apple is good, but like every other product it is not perfect.0 -

^^^^This is what I mean ^^^^
If anyone is wondering what I hate about apple its fanboys like iTroll above. Jumps on a mild criticism of the OS he hates and then blatantly lies through his teeth.
The fact apple has people like iTroll as a devouted cult member is enough to put me off ever purchasing from them, and that's not even taking into account the myriad other things wrong with that company.0 -
And that price wont change despite the hardware becoming old/outdated like the price changes for other phones.
Why is that?
I guess because they don't need to as customers are still willing to pay £500 for it?The fact apple has people like iTroll as a devouted cult member is enough to put me off ever purchasing from them, and that's not even taking into account the myriad other things wrong with that company.
You'd be foolish to let that influence you're buying decision. You also wouldn't be ale to buy any product as all platforms have their fair share of trolling cult members.0 -

Yes there is that, which is one of the reasons I'm not a customer. You'd be foolish to let that influence you're buying decision. You also wouldn't be ale to buy any product as all platforms have their fair share of trolling cult members.
As stated its not just iTroll, though apple fanboys do annoy! Its other things I don't like about apple as well.0 -

It's a good job you're free to choose to buy a product from elsewhere, just like the rest of us are when we don't agree with or dont like a particular company's policies/products. The beauty of the free market and choice!0
