So, there are lots of us in the same boat. Ovivo advice is to call cs. Anyone tried that?
How easy is it to get a PAC?

I got one no trouble at all. Just fill in the form on-line, I think it was sent to me the same day.

Might not be a mistake - your phone might have had a couple of attempts at sending the texts - so multiples could have gone. Did the recipient receive the same text more than once etc.
I sometimes get people say to me why did you send that twice (on Orange and giffgaff), when I know I only sent it once..but I can't prove that the phone didn't attempt multiple times etc., and the phone won't show this either.
Like you say 30p is neither here nor there...unless it starts to become frequent and adding up. I would dare bet that your phone has sent multiple times though.

Just checked with the USA number owner and no duplicates were received. Shall probably have to suck it up. Last year in the US I had to make a call and Ovivo charged me as if I was in the South Pacific. Luckily they refunded me that one after a couple of weeks.

Data's pretty much unusable - anywhere you go. I'm wondering if they're paying their Vodafone account!

This is not looking good for Ovivo - particularly given that they seem to have a habit of kicking anybody who complains a lot out. :(
  • Just for reference, what would be considered a normal data download speed from other providers ?
compared to the current Ovivo figures of 0.04 - 0.09

(not had smart phone before so no idea)
  • OK, I think this is ridiculous. Let us gather some stats on what speeds people are getting around the country. I have started a new thread for this purpose. Go here and post your stats!
  • I think part of the speed problem stems from the fact that Ovivo is an MVNO using the Vodafone network. Vodafone contract/business customers will get the fastest speeds and MVNOs get second pick as it were.
The same has been happening with Asda mobile on the EE network and GiffGaff on the O2 network.
Things can only get worse as more and more people use data on their phones unless the take up of 4G increases dramatically. Then the 3G channel congestion will ease off a bit.

I am sure you are right. Even when there is no virtual operator involved, I would expect PAYG customers on the same network to get worse speed than contract customers, and business customers to get the highest speed.

But would you really expect speeds of 1/20th of what others are getting?

I have a corporate business O2 and it can be fast, also have Giffgaff on O2 and whilst undeniably slower it still gives same coverage and several MB of speed, never seen less than at least 2.0MB and usually plenty more.

Truth is simple, Ovivo have sold far more sims than their internet facilities (vodaphone is just the transport) can handle so everyone is just getting a tiny trickle of data.

Anyone want to stay up to 4am and try it?
