Please don't shout.....I am of a certain age and new to smart phones........so bear with me.
Got a Moto G at Christmas, eventually mid January signed up to the £20 and free blah blah with Ovivio.
All fine, I'm doing well, learning the phone etc.
This last week it seems that I haven't been getting replies to texts I've sent. Just confirmed now with a friend who text me to say their grandchild had arrived, I messaged back to say lovely etc, she text back I didn't get that. Same has happened with me and other friends.
Texts are going & arriving, but the replies are not getting to me.
OH has a works phone on contact with Vodafone-no issues at the moment with his coverage from our house.
Have turned phone right off for a while, but nothing has come through after turning on.
Any ideas?:j0 -

As most of you know, you will see an Ovivo Now page with advertising after browsing a couple of pages. It is only once this page has been displayed and you have clicked Continue that more normal data speeds open up.
The biggest explanation in my experience though is that the ad server is frequently overloaded with customers and simply can't handle the current amount of traffic so you then get stuck with no web access when you should be being served with an advert.
If the Ovivo CEO, who is also the COO, spent rather more of his time concentrating on resolving this issue, by investing in more server capacity, and far less time on working out how to be thoroughly beastly to any customer who complains too loudly about defects in the service (by summarily expelling them from his network in a toys out of the pram type moment) then I think both he and his customers would be a great deal happier all round.
For anyone thinking of trying Ovivo if its a secondary phone to your main high spec work phone perhaps so you don't have to answer work calls after hours (ironically a facility the Ovivo CEO does not so far seem to have thought of availing himself of) then an Ovivo SIM is probably adequate. If however its your primary phone and you need to be able to count on web browsing quickly and reliably then its probably better to go down either the 1-2-Three or Tesco Mobile £10 Per Month 1 Month Contract routes. All in all Ovivo is far better thought of as a free mobile phone service that does work as a normal mobile with a free data side that does work slowly from time to time if you are lucky.
In that regard you should particularly note that on many lower capacity rural transmitters Vodafone only allows Ovivo (and probably most of its other cheaper MVNO partners) customers to connect on to a 2/2.5G speed service even though a 3G option is shown when you roam for available services and can be connected to with a Vodafone SIM card.0 -
This is not looking good for Ovivo - particularly given that they seem to have a habit of kicking anybody who complains a lot out.
Yes agreed. The only reason I called the CEO on a Sunday morning, who I had the mobile phone number of from when they were much smaller and keener to learn from their customers, was because I had not been able to use data for four days in a row.
There are a lot of very fine sounding statements on the Ovivo website that just because they are a free network that quality is not compromised but when it comes to data use that simply is not true.
In fact on that very thought I feel a possible complaint to the ASA coming upon me.;)0 -

I have to agree with NonGeographicalMan on this point. My wife uses Ovivo as her main phone (and I use Ovivo as a secondary) and there is basically no web browsing service, from any location that we try to use it (we live in West London). If you're looking for a phone service for web browsing then this isn't it. Customer service are no help either (and pretty stroppy with it).
On that basis they do seem to be advertising something that they don't deliver.0 -

The week before was in Warwick and used it no problem although had to use open signal to switch masts before I got a reasonable speedIt's not just about the money0 -

Silk,
We get the fact that you are engaged in some peculiar trade (almost certainly a high pressure salesman of some kind judging from the way you seem to treat me for holding a different opinion of Ovivo from you a bit like you might treat some customer who is disappointed with a bit of double glazing or life insurance you may just have signed them up to) where you must be available in every physical square inch of the UK on your mobile and that to achieve this Ovivo is cheaper than the next cheapest Pay As You Go Vodafone option. We also get the fact that this makes you personally in to an unequivocal Fan Boy of Ovivo who will repeatedly deliver a severe kicking to anyone who may criticise a product that suits your needs but quite probably does not suit most normal occasional mobile phone users who only want to run one line and do need their data connection to work reliably when they need access to data services
Despite your own almost unique situation as a mobile phone user my observations on various inadequacies of the Ovivo service and their new harsh treatment of any customer who dares complain about those inadequacies too persistently to the company will be of relevance to other customers who do need to use the data services and for whom Ovivo either currently is or potentially could become their only mobile line.
Rather than just thinking of your own very unusual mobile phone needs and how Ovivo saves you a bit of money in relation to those needs perhaps you could also consider the needs of a typical low use mobile phone user who will only be running one line and whether Ovivo, with its currently Swiss Cheese like data service reliability and its related very slow speeds when it does actually work, may actually be suitable for many of those potential users of this product.
I can assure you that the more you tell me what I can post here the more I will point out how completely self serving of your own needs and utterly lacking in consideration of the needs of a likely typical Ovivo Mobile phone customer your own posts are.
The Ovivo CEO had a simple remedy in order not to make me a big Brand Disadvocate of Ovivo when I called him. Namely he could have been polite, expressed sympathy with my issues and told me he and his team were working hard on resolving matters. I might even have believed him, for a while anyway. Even if I didn't in the end I would have got bored with the rubbish data services and just ported my number elsewhere (or only kept the SIM for over-run phone calls on my main SIM) and not have been motivated to publicise the deficiencies in the Ovivo product offering in the way I now am.
If you object to my posts here then I strongly suggest you email the CEO of Ovivo suggesting that he made an extremly unwise mistake when he decided to evict me as a customer.used it no problem although had to use open signal to switch masts before I got a reasonable speed0 -

It realy comes as no surprise they kicked you off the network :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:It's not just about the money0 -

Thanks for unnecessarily re-posting the whole of my post rather than the pertinent section you were referring to.

Ovivo's CEO clearly kicked me out because he knew their substandard product couldn't be brought up to my standards or expectations. With the benefit of hindsight I think they are going to find that decision was far more their loss than it was mine. After all at least my phone is now with a network where I can actually count on the data service to work reliably when I need it to.0 -
Thats not true from my experiances up North, as I've used it this week in Preston, Manchester and Warrington plus this morning in Kendal without any problems.
The week before was in Warwick and used it no problem although had to use open signal to switch masts before I got a reasonable speed
So you get a decent service in various locations in the North, and we're unable to get any kind of service in the wilds of West London. I'm not sure what conclusions can be drawn from this, but would be interested to hear from anyone in the London area who is actually able to use Ovivo for web browsing.0
