Ah well you see this does not matter because NonGeographicalMan had a bad experience he thinks the company should go out of business so that all those who are satisfied, don't care that the data is rubbish have to pay loads for a more expensive service.... hang on he dosen't work for 02/voda/EE/3 or dare I say it GiffGaff does he?
(for the benefit of NonGeographicalMan the above is a joke, humour, good or bad this is all it is not a personal attack!)I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Same here, never use data because my phone is a stupid & not smart one, just calls & text
Oh dear this actually seems to be the profile of most of Ovivo's customers (including one of my immediate relatives who is content with it purely because they never, ever use data on their phone despite my best efforts to try to teach them). Namely ageing 50 something+ technophobes who don't use their phone very much but who quite like the idea of entirely free calls with no ongoing subscription commitment when they do.
Yet the ECommerce model of Ovivo is supposed to be a highly sophisticated product aimed at customers who are advertisementphiles and which tunes and refines those adverts to a customer's own specific tastes by noting the kind of websites they are browsing with their smartphones.
I wonder how much the Ovivo customer database is actually going to be worth to any potential buyer once they realise that Ovivo's tens of thousands of customers are actually a load of ageing skinflints disproprotionately made up of non smartphone users who due to their economic lifestyles and cautious spending patterns are some of the most non responsive people to adverts in the whole of the United Kingdom...........0 -

Bottom line is they kicked you out for acting in an unreasonable and irrational manner, they were probably worried you would escalate your bad behaviour and turn up at his front door next time you were unhappy with the service.
I doubt Ovivo know or care where or what windmills you are now jousting against.====0 -
shell820810 - make sure your MIL is in a good 'vodafone' signal area, other wise it can be very frustrating to make/receive calls.
I get a reasonable signal everywhere except for home!0 -
Just signed up to give a quick warning to any potential customers.
I bought an OVIVO SIM and signed up to their data only offering back in November. This was to stick in my old phone to use as a music player (I subscribe to Deezer, which for those who don't know, is a music streaming service similar to Spotify).
It worked really well until earlier this year when suddenly data speeds went through the floor.
Having just come off the phone to their customer services department, I have now realised that this sort of usage just isn't supported now as the streaming triggers their 'SmartData' traffic limiter and basically kills your internet connection.
The only fix is to open your phone's browser and browse about for a while to 'reset' the SmartData service, then start streaming again. (Works for about half an hour, when you need to go through the whole process again!)
I wasn't offered any sort of proper solution. Pretty much just a shrug of the shoulders.
Maybe my type of usage is 'abnormal,' I don't know. But I don't think that music streaming is a big ask for a VMNO to support.
Hope this doesn't come a cross as a rant, just thought I'd share my experience in case anyone is thinking of signing up.0 -

But the package Ovivo have put together for the free users pretty much sums up that this is the sort of customer they are going to get.
If you're one of the many youngsters nowadays that spend 23 hours out of 24 glued to your iphone watching tv, streaming films, whatsapping your mates and twittering to them, you won't be with ovivo, you will be with something like threes one plan with all you can eat data.
Ovivo is my main sim and I have a (pretty simple, it has to be said) smartphone. I never use Ovivos internet service because:
- If i am at home, I have access to Wi-Fi
- If i am at a friends house, I have access to Wi-Fi
- If i'm out in town maybe for a coffee or lunch, generally most places now have free Wi-Fi
The most I do on my phone in terms of data useage is maybe check my emails and thats pretty much it!
On the odd occasion I do use ovivos data service when out and about, it isn't for anything internet intensive, so i might need to google a phone number or something.
In terms of being a skinflint, Bloody right I am :rotfl:That is why I am on here! Why would I want to pay three £6.90 a month (Apart from the 5,000 texts you get on three which i will never use!), when the free ovivo allowance is more than enough and everywhere else I go, I can use Wi-Fi.
Different stokes for different folks, yes of course, but Ovivo suits me fine but mobile phones in general is an area of my life where i spend as little as possible! They are a bloody bugbear sometimes but handy to have when out and about in the car etc.0 -
I already have one in my spare phone and its livable but no way would I use it as a daily, people trying to do so are natural optimists IMHO!
I am going to order another SIM as I have a child starting secondary school later this year and he may have to travel by bus which may not turn up, might need picking up later after activities and such like.
I have a spare San Francisco II sitting around that will be fine and with an Ovivo SIM and careful monitoring of use he will have the safety net of a phone at zero running cost, worse case our maximum risk is £15 if he goes crazy with it.
Its a bit sad for Ovivo as no matter how much they push adverts he doesn't really have the means to buy anything! but hey, there are no user age limits or requirements that you have to surf the internet even.
There is nothing that can compare to this that I know of.0 -

Agreed. It's an exercise in frustration to try and do more than an occasional page look.====0 -

Which clearly only goes to prove that Ovivo has an almost completely incompatible customer base with the supposedly high tech oriented advertising reading loving group that Ovivo has been selling to its advertisers.0
