Why does their business model bother you so much?
I don't care about their business model, if it fails I will move elsewhere I don't care if it works or not it is not my money.
I really am beginning to think you are in the pay of a frightened rival.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -

That's presumably you are an entirely selfish person who only cares you are getting something free and who doesn't care if the way you are using the product may ultimately make the whole network collapse commercially, even for people who are using it properly as originally intended.
I may of course be wrong about the business model as the model may just be to grab 1,000,000 mobile subscribers as fast as possible and then to sell that 1,000,000 subscribers to another rival who bring in more sustainable pricing. No doubt there are several other Pan European networks who would pay quite a lot to acquire that many UK mobile subscribers in one hit.I really am beginning to think you are in the pay of a frightened rival.
You on the other hand would appear to be a techno luddite (a mobile phone with no satisfactory data capability is a pretty useless animal these days) who takes the greatest possible satisfaction in getting something for free regardless of the quality of the item.0 -

Thats rich (pun intended) coming from someone that wears a Roo Jacket so they don't have to pay for luggage when flying. It's not just about the money0 -

Tchno Luddite? My employment is IT for a major Supermarket company I run one of the latest versions of Android on a researched and bought Chinese copy of a Samsung note. I have been building websites since the mid 90's I am often what is called an early adopter. But then you sit and make ill informed judgements as you make ill informed accusations against all who are fed up with you and your boring rantings and personal attacks. You've made your point move on.
I am however fed up with being ripped off by mobile phone companies that charge a fortune for something that costs them very little after infrastructure costs how do you think they keep making so much money?
My main use for mobile internet is apps and yes sometimes this can lag but as a "techno Luddite" my mobile happens to have two sims in it so I can swap between networks if this lag causes me an issue. One place it can is when relying on maps for SatNav slow data can make this useless so if one is in lag I swap another no issue.
Even with the two sims on two different networks I can still hit dead points where both networks fail (most sodding football grounds for one!).
I repeat anyone who relies on a free service when data is important to them is a fool.
There has however never been a time when I absolutely need a data connection I have not had one the others, despite two networks, have just been minor inconveniences.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Lets go back in years ( god knows how long ) but Ovivo is NOT the first to offer this kind of tariff for a one off upfront payment. I think it was Bt/Cellnet but if not very early on in O2 days that a "Pay up front for life" was launched, which gave various options of minutes/texts/anytime or off peak. I still have 2 of these phones & have never paid a penny since buying them. Certainly it was over £100 each but you got a nokia phone included. If O2 was losing that much money on the people who still have these as to make it unserstanable then they would most certainly find some way to move everybody off the tariff . And there was no internet included in it nor were the phones capable of it !0

I see Ovivo is now being promoted in Martins latest Moneysaving Emiail ..................someone's not going to be happy :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:It's not just about the money0

I still think its a bloody good deal for callers and texters.
I don't think it makes any difference whether you watch the ads or not. Remember when Ovivo first started, the catch was that you HAD to have a smartphone to be able to watch the ads. Now, you don't have to have a smartphone and can use Ovivo sims in a dumbphone.
Why would ovivo make this change if the whole network was going to collapse!
As said in a previous post, I don't really use ovivos data service. I use maybe 60 mins of calls a month, and maybe 250 texts along with Wi-Fi when i'm out and about.
I can't see anything that would offer me a better deal than this, after all, its bloody free!! How can we complain?! This is a MONEY SAVING site after all, and you do not get better than free, especially when you consider the amount of threads in the mobiles section regarding mid contract price rises, bills for thousands of pounds due to roaming charges etc.
I don't have to worry about any of this now with OvivoNonGeographicalMan wrote: »That's presumably you are an entirely selfish person who only cares you are getting something free and who doesn't care if the way you are using the product may ultimately make the whole network collapse commercially, even for people who are using it properly as originally intended.
Forgive me for being on a money saving site and trying to save money! How silly of me!0 -

I don't have to worry about any of this now with Ovivo
My current Tesco Mobile 1 month contract Pay As You Go SIM has a £2.50 limit on any out of bundle spend after which it won't be allowed. I can make it more than that but I choose not to in order to protect myself against ripoff hidden charging services.
In October Naughty Ovivo Mobile was charging calls to normal Spanish landline numbers listed by https://www.nomasnumeros900.com as alternatives to their 084/7 equivalent 902 numbers at over 1 Euro a minute in breach of the current EU roaming directive pricing cap when they should have been charging them at their standard rates for calls to Spanish geographic numbers. So they are not quite so whiter than white as you make out.0 -

Based on previous examples such as his extensive promotion of savings accounts with Icesave that actually usually happens just before the whole enterprise finally goes completely belly up.0
