edit: silly me
Haven't activated the sim card. duh.
Good news, 3G internet works at my home. I will trial this and see how it's like in the next few months.
I use wifi predominantly from home (which is also my workplace). I don't really use mobile internet when I'm out and about. Just go through about 200-300mb data on my current plan per month. So no biggie.
I used mobile internet for the bare minimum. The pull up google maps, find address or phone number of a business etc.0 -
Anyone who doesn't want to put all their eggs in one basket by porting an existing number to OVIVO might think about a dual SIM phone if they are in the market for a new unlocked handset. They are not that expensive (e.g. Nokia 206 smartphone is about £45) and you could use your current number for incoming calls and your OVIVO number for calling/texting.
You can of course get 600 minutes and 600 texts a month by buying two OVIVO sim cards and putting them in a dual SIM phone or just having two cheap handsets...!0 -
I have no qualms about porting my main number over to ovivo. If you trust them enough with all your private information and data transmission, why cant you trust them to stay liquid and give you the option to port out?
I am doing that. Just waiting for the port.
Recently upgraded my internet to fibre and went from £13.50 p/m to £22.50 p/m so I was eager to get my mobile phone bills down to £0 to offset that.0 -
My experience with Ovivo so far has been positive, I don't feel concerned about using it as my only phone.
I feel I get a better reception for the phone and texts than I did on T Mobile.
My only issue with it is that the data does not appear to work for surfing web pages when I am on the train and it can be a little irksome to get a few advertising pages in a single session; but otherwise I am very happy. I only use data outside of home and work and when stationary, surfing is fast enough.
I am seriously considering a data only sim for my tablet, but I would need to source a wireless 3g dongle to put it in so I would need to find where to start with that one...Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -

You mean the same way people trusted Blockbuster, MFI, HMV, Jessops....0 -

Quite! All about your attitude to spreading risk, I guess...and a new company with such a spectacular offering isn't a risk I'd take without sensible steps to mitigate the possibility of it all going wrong.
Hope it works brilliantly for everyone and it may well be absolutely fine - but to ignore the possibility, however small, that it may end in tears might be unwise.0 -

Unwise in what way? We're only talking about a mobile number rather than a pension investment.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -

Exactly, worst case scenario is hardly that bad. I have a friend whose last 6 digits is 555551 he had it for years, maybe if you had that number you can feel protective over it. But my number is pretty generic and it would just be a matter of text messaging everyone to alert them of number change.
On the plus side you get off call lists.
In any case someone with access to ofcom might tell you that administrators will allow users to port out if the business collapses.0 -

For the cost of any remaining balance on your Ovivo account or maybe a £20 charge?0 -
Sorry bit of a technophobe and can't go through all the thread.
Can someone just confirm that you don't need a smartphone to take this deal. Just want to use for calls and odd text or two
