I'm not at all sure I do. It's a good point, and one which very few people have picked up on.
I've been with them for almost 2 years, as has my Mother and never had a spam text or email through them so don't see why it would be a problem. It's not just about the money0 -
I'd say the kind of adverts they are warning against are those that you get in apps written by individuals and published on the various app stores; these can therefore be written by unscrupulous peeps.
I seriously doubt Ovivo's been set up to harvest phone data.
Oh, I didn't suspect Ovivo being set up for that purpose or for malware advertising!
I just wasn't sure how well vetted the adverts were, thus whether there was a malware risk by them appearing.
It appears from another poster that it's the clicking through which is likely to generate malware installation, so it looks safe enough.0 -

I'm challenging this exact point, would you really put a phone provider in the same risk category as dodgy apps?Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -

Why not, whats the problem with them ?

I just have a nagging doubt about that at the back of my mind. If a company the size of Google with a catchline of 'Don't be evil' can't be trusted (and it's proved conclusively that it can't) why should be place much trust in Ovivo?0 -
Maybe you and I frequent different websites. :rotfl:
Personally I don't see any more risk with Ovivo than T Mobile et al.
Oh and I've never got anything dodgy from an ad, but have fixed plenty of computers from people with the line "All I did was click on such and such"(And I know malware on mobiles hasn't quite caught up to PC levels yet but it's catching up quick and that false sense of security is one of the biggest risks IMO with people not worrying or thinking about what they click on)

Who knows? It's just that a little-known, newish company, with hardly any track record now has access to all your phone calls, emails, internet usage etc etc etc.

Like I said I've been with them almost 2 years I think if there was anything dodgy they would have shown their hand by now. How many years is it before we can trust them ???It's not just about the money0
