Ignoring all the bickering here, further to my comments on ovivo internet speed, i just downloaded the speedtest app. The results i got were

    Download speed: 0.11 mbps
    Upload speed: 0.31 mbps

    This cant be right surely?

Hmm, I was going to ask if you were on 3g or HSDPA but I just tried and got 0.11 and 0.13 on H+.
    Oh dear.

In my test history I can see that I got 4.57 download back on the 15th Jan. So it is definitely worse now.
I have contacted them on Twitter and FB, will see what they have to say.....

Can you run a speed test if they only allow you to download about one MB before switching to adverts?

Yes, of course. Ads only appear in browser traffic. SpeedTest.net app does not run via the browser.
Much the same as downloading apps and everything else. No ads appear and there is no interruption.

I just got this, its about usual for Ovivo. As you can see I have a full signal with an HSDPA connection, should be good for at least a few megabits. It not the network or the signal, its Ovivo's internet connection, they must be routing us all through a 28K modem to the Outer Mongolian Internet company PLC!

What with that and the ads means you have to be pretty desperate to try and use Ovivo as a regular smartphone sim. No wonder they increase the data allowances, at this rate you would never use more than a fraction of it even if they gave you 20GB a month free.

I DO still thinks its amazing value for just calls and texts and even email as a backup phone or very light user, when my next child goes to big school he will get a phone with an Ovivo SIM for his security. I am just glad I don't have to to try and use it myself every day!

I used to have a Vodafone Sim (before they ended the none expiring sim) and I tested the Ovivo Data Sim with this Vodafone Sim, both in the same iPad in the same place; the Vodafone Sim was always quicker, sometime only a little bit quicker but most times a lot ie Vodafone Sim 2mb+ and the Ovivo Sim -1mb. You get what you pay for, if like me you only use mobile data once in a blue moon, Ovivo is fine; however if you depend on it or use it regular it maybe better to pay a small amount.

My sister finds GiffGaff is slower than O2, so I guess the main networks take priority over the piggyback networks.

Oh boy, just had it suggested "it sounds you've been using lots of data in the background".
They seem to be traffic managing:

    http://support.ovivomobile.com/support/solutions/articles/184801-about

    Is this new?

Anyway, I've used 58 Meg since 22 Jan, so not much data really.
Could it be the management tool is cr*p?
    Surely not!
  • Re their 'Smart' data tool ..

" We don't stop you from using file sharing sites, downloading big files or watching large movies on the go, we just make sure that heavy users of these kinds of activities don't use up all of the network"

Don't know about large movies - chance would be a fine thing - Can't even do an refresh on the BBC news app (android)

using speed test ( if it will connect to a server) says 0.03 download

As a new user - I take it this very poor download speed is a relatively new thing, due to this so called 'smart' data tool ?
Seems they have it set to 'draconian' mode !
