I think they would meet serious price resistance and a big fall off in new sign ups if they charged £40. I reckon £25 is the most they could charge for a new SIM but they might get away with making the SIM issuing charge £10 and only say provide a £15 credit in the end.

I think people would still pay if it was £40 one off payment because
you are still getting free mins/text/internet every month and if you don't go over your allowance it will cost you no more.

Not sure as many people would sign up as a new customers if it was a £40 payment without a guarantee from Ovivo for the duration of the inclusive allowance. I definitely wouldn't.

There are some very good rolling monthly deals out there that are more competitive depending on usage profile.

my balance has gone down from 18 pounds to 17.83 and i havemnt gone over the allowance this month or last ? and this is my second month? any ideas
Delete every APN you have on your phone and set up the one they want exactly as they want....My credit went on this...

I wouldn't pay £40. There are better deals out there. I cannot trust the Ovivo product and estimate it'll last another 6 months. Hopefully it'll last much longer but that's just how I figure out if it's worth it or not.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

    Show me a better deal

People said Ovivo wouldn't last and that was over a year ago and they are still here:D
I was only saying even if it was £40 i would pay it because its just a one off

I have kept to my allowance and still have my £5 from when Ovivo started so basically i have had a years worth of allowance for nothing try beating that with some other provider.

It depends whether you are a person who uses your SIM in a non Smartphone (really Ovivo should threaten to shut down the SIM of any user who does not consumer at least x number of MB of data per quarter as clearly they will no be seeing any adverts that pay for the network) as I suspect you may be or if you actually do some web browsing on your phone.

If you web browse with an Ovivo SIM then you will soon realise the regular appearance of the ads and having to wait for the CONTINUE button to appear is quite a high price to pay for calls and texts and data being free. Also Ovivo uses Vodafone and in rural areas these days they have by far the largest number of unmodernised outdated 2G only (not even 2.5G) transmitters of any of the networks. I am also suspicious that Vodafone gives data traffic from Ovivo SIMs much lower priority on its network than that given to its own customers from occasions where I just have to wait and wait for web pages to appear.
  • ITS NOT £40!!!!
It is the best sim only pay as you go deal for moderate users out there at the mo. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I agree what you are saying but everybody is still forgetting its still free after the one off payment and also remember its £20 not £40 i just said i would have paid the £40 if it was

The signal where i live is not great but when i go to places like london its fine and thats were i use it most for the internet

Its not just Vodafone that got bad signal its most of the networks EE is getting to be one of the worst.

If they keep increasing the joining cost, then some people might wonder how much of the cashflow comes from adverts and how much from finding new customers.

But I doubt they would increase it much more, as modest use of 10 to 30 minutes a month, a couple of text messages and 20 to 50 MB of data can cost only a quid or so per month elsewhere
