Not sure if a typo has crept in there, but the setting that works for me is default,* - i.e. with a final *.
Thanks for your reply.
I've tried both default, and default,* but still no data connection.
I had also had my number transferred from Orange at the same time so maybe a combination of changes has made matters worse.
Hopefully Ovivo will come up with something soon.0 -

I just had my one-month anniversary with Ovivo. It's all worked absolutely fine, but the strange thing is although the voice and texts were re-set to to 150 / 250 respectively, data has stayed at 496, rather than re-setting to 500.
Not really bothered as I don't use data much, but wondered why?0 -
Have you tried using Tweaker to see what happens ?
Yes, I've run Tweakker a few times but after going through each stage all it seems to do is give me the settings which it says I have to write down and enter manually.
When I then go to the list of APN's, Ovivo is then listed but I still can't remove the two APN's relating to Vodaphone as they are locked.
I tried putting my old Orange sim back in and when I checked the list of APN's it just showed those relating to Orange so my reasonong from that is that it is the Ovivo sim that contains these settings so isn't a problem with my phone.
Ovivo have come back and asked for a bit more information so, in terms of customer response, I am quite impressed - I just wish my data connection would work.
They also suggested I try running APN Backup and Restore app but it doesn't work on Android 4.0 -

If so try running Tweaker with the Orange sim in then swap the sim back to Ovivo and see what happens.
What phone is it, is it unlocked ?It's not just about the money0 -
So far I have happy with Ovivo as I am a low user and managed to avoid ads when using internet as was using an older phone, but just in the process of switching to a newer phone so yet to see how many ads whilst surfing.
The web advertising can actually be pretty annoying when you get it as you have to press a Continue button to go on from the ad and even though it is a huge button it always seems to refuse to respond to being pressed for numerous inputs. Its almost as though it is deliberate to force you to read the advert. And the advertising always seems to be totally irrelevant to any web browsing you have done and just standard old Ovivo ad contracts they inflict on all their end users repeatedly.
Personally I think Dariush, the CEO of Ovivo, is making a mistake in only having an advertising based subscription model. A lot of customers will come to Ovivo because its free but if the adverts get going at a serious level they will get fed up with them and decide they would rather pay £2.50 or £5 per month to have an ad free service. Also Ovivo face a potentially serious problem in that many of their customers may largely only make phone calls and send texts and use data hardly at all (because they are occasional users who are mainly home or office based). This then makes it near impossible to inflict enough ads to pay for the free phone calls and texts unless the advertising is sent forcibly by text.
I have tried suggesting to Dariush that his pay bolt on data packages should also be ad free because anyone using that much additional data a month is going to become seriously annoyed about that much forced advertising appearing that regularly. However so far he seems resolute in his approach that all of his customers must accept forced advertising rather than being prepared to accept that some customers will be able to live with and enjoy the adverts and some won't and that he should cater for both types of customers.
With Three's latest very cheap Pay As You Go offering there are now some very serious alternatives out there if Ovivo chooses to potentially go in to self destruct mode by inflicting forced texts on customers. I have to say though that it depends how many forced texts we are talking about. One a week is definitely acceptable to me. One a day would start to get annoying and 20 in the day (if I was using the internet a lot that day and text numbers were data use related) would be really annoying. Also what if the texts have a link that you have to click on in them to prove you have opened them. That would be even more annoying still.
So whether Ovivo's free only advertising funded model remains viable in the long run remains to be seen. I personally think that if Dariush is wise he will also bring in a very cheap base level pay option at say £2.50 per month or whatever with roughly the current amount of calls and data (although 250Mb might be adequate for the majority of his customers on a cheap pay product) that does not require forced advertising and give the customers the choice of whether they want a free service with adverts or a low cost one without adverts.0 -
I must admit I've often wondered how Ovivo's model can make any money, and don't necessarily expect it to last in its current form. I very seldom use the browser on my smartphone, so in effect I'm just getting free minutes and texts - and enjoying it while it lasts.0

Just joined Ovivo but I can't login to my account. Anyone else having problems ? Thanks0

Yes, the reintroduced advertising is very aggressive indeed.
I can't see a heavy user tolerating it, so they'll just end up with a large number of non-paying occasional users, and I really don't understand how their advertising rates could be enough to cover their costs.0
