If you can unlock for free of cheap it's always better to have your phone unlocked for giving you more choices in the future, but not totally necessary.
Don't you have access to a cheap unlocked phone? You only need a phone to put the Orange/O2 sim in for a few days before transferring back to Ovivo.
Surely you or someone you know will have an old phone in a drawer?====0 -
Have ordered my ovivo sim. They confirmed today my PAC code will be OK to transfer.
Quick question my PAC code expires on 19th- can I leave it until the 16th to transfer as just means less termination fee with Voda as my contract runs until the 23rd.
Also do we get the 15 pounds back or does that remain on account indefinitely. I can't check back through the thread as my internet connection is dreadful
Many thanks0 -

The termination fee won't increase of decrease, you will be paying for 30 days, no matter when you use the PAC, use it on day 1 or day 29, you still pay for 30 days.
The £15 you pay goes onto the sim as credit (though someone previously said it is now £12.50 credit, less the VAT).====0 -
Great thank you
I'll pop it in straight away and activate it on the web then.
And do my PAC transfer straight after too.
Anything else to be aware. Of. Any settings need changing on my HTC desire as moving from Voda to ovivo... Mobile network passwords etc0 -
You will need to update the APN in settings, the Ovivo one is ovivomobile.com.

The credit disappears after a year if you don't use it. You may find it difficult to use up given all the free calls, texts and data each month.0

That's not what their FAQ says ....Does my balance or account expire?
If you don’t use your phone for 60 days, the account will enter a “Suspended” state in our system. This means that you can still use the service, your credit balance is still intact, but you will need to contact us to re-enable your account, which we would do free of charge.
If, you are inactive for a further 120 days (180 in total), your account is “Deactivated”. It can still be reactivated, but there may be a charge for this and you would need to contact us to re-active your account for you. Your credit balance is still there at not lost at this stage.
If, you are inactive for a further 180 days (360 in total), your account will be deleted from our system, any credit balance will be deleted and your number may also be lost from our systems. In effect, this is the point at which your service with us is completely closed.
As long as your account is active, we will not deactivate your account or delete any credit from it.0 -
looks like T&C have changed. When I joined in January, I copied this into my notepad:
> T&C
5.4 All credits must be used within 360 days of topping up. Any unused credit after this period will expire and you will be required to top-up again.
5.5 We reserve the right to SUSPEND the Service if your Account remains inactive for a consecutive period of 60 days. Should you make or receive a chargeable or non-chargeable call/text/data transfer during this period, your account will remain active.
5.6 Further, We reserve the right to TERMINATE the Service if following suspension under clause 5.5, your account remains inactive for a further period of 120 days without topping up.0 -
Yeah, they changed in April, that clause 5.4 has disappeared.0
