If you only need the free allowance (for perhaps slightly more on PAYG), Ovivo is fantastic value, but no good for anyone who needs more.

Sums it up very well. !!!!

When the free allowance runs out, can't you get an extra 250 mins voice, 400 texts and 500MB data for £9 with their new Ibis offer?

It's a good question and I don't know the ins and outs of it but once you have opted for the £9/mth Ibis pay monthly plan do you still retain the freedom plan in conjunction with this in perpetuity or do you just go onto the Ibis plan henceforth? Unless you DO get the Freedom included their monthly price plans are not in any way worth it TBH. The Whale one in particular is laughably expensive. £32.50/mth for:

    2000 mins, any network
    2500 texts, any network
    1000MB data usage
FREE* calls and texts to OVIVO

If you have used any of your free minutes from the freedom tariff you cant start a new one until end of period,so i guess they are not included as well. http://ovivomobile.com/change-your-price-plan/

and yes as you say the Whale One is a joke price wise.

Also note the Free Calls and Texts to Ovivo numbers come out of your inclusive free allowances on the Freedom Tariff. They are not seperate now as they are on other tariffs.

    > Are the Ibis, Rhino, Shark and Whale allowance in addition to the Freedom Price Plan?

No, the allowances are as stated against each price plan and not in addition to any of the other states price plans.
For example, with the Freedom Plan, you receive 150 Minutes, 200 Texts and 400MB each month.
If you’re on the Ibis plan, you receive a total of 250 Minutes, 400 Texts and 500MB.

I was hoping to buy one of these price plan packages, when the free allowances run out.
Not 100% sure, but it looks as if I was to go for a price plan, I would then stop being eligible for the Freedom Price Plan.
So, if I pay £9 for the Ibis plan, I will get only an extra 100 mins voice, 200 texts and 100 MB data.

Another SIM from a cheaper provider and carrying around two phones or a dual SIM phone may be the way forward.
  • They seem to have shot themselves in the foot somewhat with this initiative.

Or you could just get two Ovivo sims and get two lots of the free (freedom) allowance.

Presumably they need to raise cash but given what you get for free, I'd have thought they would have added on top for a small additional fee rather than effectively penalising those who pay monthly by taking away the free allowance.

yes, they need money to provide a free service. Having established a customer base this with the free offer, they should trying to sell add on packages to them. As it is, their customers are bound to be put off.

And who is going to take up these new offers on their on?
    They are not competitive.

yeah! Ovivo has shot themselves in the foot.

Another problem is they got rid of there loyalty scheme that made them competative after 6 months.

Another point mentioned was switching after from freedom to ibis and then back, unfortunetly the way there billing works this would be impossible as the whole point of these new plans is to be auto renewing nyou choose once.

    Rules about Price Plan changes
    • Price plan changes may only be made once every 30 days
    • You may only change to published price plans – retired or older price plans not published on our website are not available
    • If you have used any element of your free allowance a price plan change will not take effect until the date your price plan resets (at the end of the day you activated your service)
    • Should you change your price plan, your 30 day period commences from the date the change is made
    • Price plan changes may only be made for customers compliant to OVIVO Mobile’s Terms and Conditions of Service.
    • OVIVO Mobile reserves the right to refuse a Price Plan change request in the event that a customer is not compliant to the service Terms and Conditions
Your choice is freedom or one of the paying packs.

Sim only offers from other provider:

    Talktalk offer this for £10

    300 mins
    3000 texts
500MB or 1GB data (if you sign online)

And if you want a 12 month contract it goes down to £7.50. You do have to be a talktalk customer though.
