I am thinking about porting my number out.
Why? My thinking is 2 fold, firstly, Ovivo is only a virtual, your number is registered on the Vodafone network, it's not like the network will shut down if Ovivo were to close.
Secondly, I'm pretty sure that like Easy Mobile we would be given a short time period to port out (I seem to recall 30 days when Easy went out of business). Whilst losing the service would be inconvenient, I don't think your number (or mine) is at as much risk as you do.====0 -
They did say the ad's are coming back in the spring which should increase the revenue for them.
Meanwhile it's a case of making hay whilst the sun shines and at the moment I'm well in front as far as savings go even if I were to lose the £5
Yes, the ads are one of their sources of revenue.
The £5 to £15 people pay to join in is spent on issuing the SIM, admin costs, cost of free allowance and call credit. It produce very little profit.0 -
Top up credit when joining is now £15. To sweeten the pill now they are giving an extra £3.00 of credit when you bring your number to Ovivo!0

I had an email saying that the ads will be back soon. You see them when using the free data allowance for browsing, I think!
The ad pops up every few pages when browsing, which was never a problem as you could just click on "skip" to continue to the page you were waiting to load.
In fairness to Ovivo if I wasn't in a rush every so often I used to let the ad's load up rather than just ignore them all the timeIt's not just about the money0 -
Yes you do.

I wonder how much of your free data allowance the ads use up sending them to you? they could load them with quite large file size elements pushing you into the 'pay zone' much quicker.0 -

It's a bit like a mainstream network allowing access to the networks own site portal. It's free.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

What I am certain about is that my data useage shows no difference between when the ad's were on and since they removedIt's not just about the money0 -

One thing I don't quite understand: do you still see ads on data that you've payed for, or is it only on the free allowance?0 -
I've been with Ovivo since November and haven't received a single ad but that's because they haven't been sending any,I believe that will commence this month.
I doubt the ads are cleverer enough to distinguish between free data allowance and paid for0 -
I can't be 100% certain but I don't think they used any as Happy MJ says.

Happy Easter!
Didn't realise you used Ovivo. Any downsides? I have just got my PAC code from Orange which is my spare phone, Vodafone being my main one.
I want to keep the Orange number, as some people still occasionally use it and, of course, always useful to have a spare. So, apart from the initial £15 , I can keep my number for no more spends? Certainly would never use many of the free minutes and reception should be ok.
Did you get a new number or did you transfer your old one and if so, any transfer problems?0
