There are some worrying comments about how long Ovivo will last:

    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/ovivo-mobile-increased-monthly-allowance-150mins-150-texts-400mb-for-one-off-payment-1488100

£15 is little to lose, but I may think twice about transferring a valued number to them.

few groundless allegations, wild speculations and cynicism. Good to see that more knowledgeable posters there have corrected them.
The latest increases in allowances indicate that the company is doing well.
This type of business model has been successful in the US and there is no reason it will not be here in the UK.
Dariush Zand, the founder, is also raising funds, in a cost effective way, to expand their operations further afield.

I have already saved lots on calls, SMS and data. And the £10 paid is still there as unused credit.
Ovivomobile and Sambamobile are win win situations :)

    Any proofs of this?
    Expanding what?
I am with Ovivo, and I don't see any 'operations'. Their only real way of making money is by charging £15 for the sims (unsurprisingly the price went up).
ATM their operations remind me a financial pyramid and I am thinking about porting my number out.
  • Ovivo is great and I really hope it lasts but I'm not sure i would put my life savings on that happening. Having said that, the allegation on HUKD seems a bit far fetched as I genuinely can't see Vodafone letting them do what is alleged. The ever increasing up front fee is a bit of a worry to me if I'm honest.

In the corporate world, 'operations' mean the activities of a company. Expand mean expanding their operations. This could be many things. Examples are additional services, increasing the availability of their services to a bigger market place.

Can not agree! Their business model clearly show that their income is derived from various sources.
£15 is credited back. I suspect that one of the reasons why they increased it is because they want to be more selective about the people subscribing. For those who subscribed they increased free allowance.

May I ask the reasons why it reminds you of a financial pyramid?
I can't see any form of pyramid selling with Ovivomobile.

Whatever they say is just words, not proofs.
In the corporate world, 'operations' mean the activities of a company. Expand mean expanding their operations. This could be many things. Examples are additional services, increasing the availability of their services to a bigger market place.
In the business world any activities are pointless if they don't result in a profit.
Can not agree! Their business model clearly show that their income is derived from various sources.
I cannot see this from my side. The only I see is their e-mails that I delete without reading like the majority of their customers do. These e-mails cannot be reasonably profitable for them.
    £15 is credited back.
It doesn't matter as they provide the cashflow. And many customers lose the credit without using it.
May I ask the reasons why it reminds you of a financial pyramid?
I can't see any form of pyramid selling with Ovivomobile.
Because, if I am right, it is sustained only by the money coming from new subscribers, not from the existing customers. All pyramids collapse when the flow of new customers dries up.

And I meant a financial pyramid, not MLM.

I have to agree with grumbler. It does seem like a financial pyramid UNLESS they generate enough from advertising or customers buying extra minutes/texts/data on top of the free allowance (which I doubt they do, hence the £15 fees are their main income and I don't think these can go on forever to sustain an ever growing customer base).

And they answer the phone straight away (rang by accident - silly touch phone doh!) and English-sounding call centre (after being with 3 I appreciate this; even though I'm Indian I can't stand indian call centres!).

They did say the ad's are coming back in the spring which should increase the revenue for them.

Meanwhile it's a case of making hay whilst the sun shines and at the moment I'm well in front as far as savings go even if I were to lose the £5
It's not just about the money
