^as macman, nowhere does it state in Ofcom rules YOU must call your BB company, just request - letter, email or call.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

            Just an update.
Have just requested my MAC from AOL, all they offered to stay was £5 off the £25 for the next 3 months in exchange for a 12 month contract.
Hopefully I shall be signing up to BT at £13 per month instead.0 -

Bit long but I've included what I'll save from this switch at the bottom.
I've been with AOL since 1998 and paying £20.00 month. My service has been crap for the last few years and when I've had any problems they have been a nightmare to sort.
I've been too lazy to change (I'm not in contract). On Tues 24th decided to phone them for my MAC code (they wanted to try and keep me but I wasn't interested in any offers).
Got MAC code via email on Wed and letter yesterday.
I'm already with BT for phone. I picked them as well because of the number of wifi hotspots and they do say that they have many international hotspots too.
1.Went into BT website via Candis/Quidco site
2. Selected package with free calls anytime for 12 months £129 up front line rental (£10.75 month) and broadband for £13.00 month on a 12 month contract.
3. Getting hub and broadband set up on Wed 2nd all confirmed within 30 minutes via email of me taking the package.
BT give £25 Sainsburys Voucher
Candis/Quidco £20 cashback
My BT line rental was £17.50 month - now saving £6.75
AOL monthly was £20.01 - now saving £7.01
Total Yearly savings - £171.87 + £45 = £216.87 and this doesn't iclude the calls I would make over the year with BT (sorry couldn't be bothered to drag out my last years bills).
Free calls for the year mean I can now reduce my mobile package so I will save money there too.
Hope this helps.
Debs
All went well today, got the hub at 9.30am got a call at 12.30 to say I could set up and took 30 minutes with no probs and i'm all working and happy. The difference in speed is very noticeable.
Think I'll put this on a new thread for others to consider, as I wish I'd done this years ago.0 -

Hiya
When you applied to BT did they give you an activation date?
I applied the day after you, and my activation date is not until 14th May.
Thanks

Hi Debs
Thanks for that.
Yes I've already got a BT phone line, I wonder if it's possible for me to have the date brought forward as I'll be going away in the middle of May and would like to have it up and running for a few days before I go.

Well I decided to go with BT in the endand can only say how painless it has been.moved over on 1st and the difference has been massive. Now consistently getting 8mbs instead of aol's 0.5 - 1 Mbs.
Anyone that is not on LLU I can't recommend BT more highly.0 -
            Ok it is done.
Switching to BT internet on 11th May £13 per month + one off £129 for phone with 12 months free calls. 12month contract.
That will do nicely.
Over 10 years with AOL and they have lost my custom!0
