Lloyds have also told me after I sent my second letter that they are hoping to pay all my charges back into my account within 30 days after i specified 14 - delay tactic? probably - I am about to proceed with legal action for me and send my 2nd letter off for my other half.

Crediting your account is a simple transaction. If you have a letter stating charges will be repaid in 30 days and they arent, on day 31 go into your local branch and ask to see the manager. Show him the letter and demand the account be credited immediately :p

I received a letter from my bank (Yorkshire Bank) stating that due to this being a high profile issue they may struggle to comply with supplying my information to me within 40 days. On day 42 I rang the bank and said they had not complied and when could I expect a response. The answer I got was, that they were not dealing with it directly and had passed it on to another department who were busy and that if I wanted to take it further I could. So I have written to the Information Commissioner and am awaiting a response!! Fingers crossed

    Hiya!

Just a quick question - has anyone else reported a bank etc. to the IC yet for not sending statements out within the 40 days?

I recently reported 4 banks by filling in the online claim form but haven't had an acknowledgement or anything so was just wondering how long it normally take for the IC to get in touch and what happens?

    Thanks ;)
  • First of all I would like to thank Martin for making so many of us aware of the situation with the Banks and our rights with regards to reclaiming unlawful bank charges.

Yesterday morning I received a letter from the Abbey National from their complaints department instead of the copies of all the charges charged to me over the last 6 years. Obviously a delay tactic! Please advise me on what I should do now. Should I call the bank or write to them again requesting the charges etc. All advice would be very gratefully received.

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

The bank has 40 days to supply you with the charges. What did their letter say anyway?
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH
  • Thank you both for replying. The letter basically said that if I had a complaint I should read the enclosed leaflet of how to make complaints and that I the bank were sorry about any inconvenience caused. I never ever made a complaint I just requested my bank charges. I just really need to now know whether to contact them or leave it and wait for my charges. Please someone help me on this one as I am determined to do the right thing and get all the money owed to me back!!!

    Cheers!!!
  • What happens if the bank refuses to give you the details of any charges, I know that you can report them to the information commision... but do they have the power to force the bank to give the info.

Also can we not just walk into the high st. branch and get a print out of the old statements. NatWest has acknowleged my letter and I am still waiting for the info, when I called them they said it was held up in a backlog and requested 2 weeks extension (which I gave them)

    cheers

I asked this a few pages back & had no response. Seems like alot of people ask what to do if they dont get their statements but no reports of people actually complaining.

I complained last week online but like you havent heard anything. Not sure whats supposed to happen either.....

Would be helpful if someone could shed some light.

Thanks for that - I just assumed a place like that would email some kind of acknowledgement or something

If I hear anything I will let you know
