  • This is getting ridiculous now. Redesignated a month ago. Nothing has happened. No paperwork, nothing.
I shall be wanting to put my allowance into the Isa after the 5th April, but not if they can't get their act together to do this simple thing.

    Anyone else still waiting?

Complain. There are only minor backlogs so you shouldn't have to wait for a month.
    • Come and see us in any of our branches to talk to a member of the team - find your nearest Halifax branch.
    • Or call our Telephone Banking Service on 08457 25 35 19
    • If you have a hearing impairment, please use textphone: 08457 32 34 36
    • Alternatively, write to us at: Halifax, PO Box 548, Leeds, LS1 1WU.
I'd expect it to be sorted within a few days. Make sure they backdate things correctly.

I sent my complaint over a week ago. Nothing has happened and no response.

I redesignated mine on 28th Feb. It had changed from Reward 3 to ISA Saver on 17th March and finally on Friday 25th it became Reward 4.

I also sent a complaint on the 22nd, I haven't heard anything from that yet.

I haven't had any paperwork either.

Argh. I just got off the phone to Halifax. It's now been two weeks since I handed in my ISA transfer form at a branch, and I haven't heard anything from them, which is why I called. According to the woman on the phone, the processing centre didn't receive the form until the 25th, so they're only going to pay interest from the 24th! She said it was due to a backlog, but it still seems pretty unfair.

The ISA Promise states that they'll pay interest from the day they receive the form, which as far as I'm concerned, is the day I handed it in at the branch. To be fair, the woman on the phone did think it seemed a bit strange, and not quite right that I'm losing out on nearly two weeks interest, and she's going to contact the branch and ask them to give me a call, so we'll see. Of course I'm still receiving interest with my current bank, but the Halifax rate is higher, so I wanted it to move asap.

Tried to ring the "Complaint Number" which just gets you into an interminable queue on an 0845 number. Gave up and rang the freephone savings number 08000326479.

A helpful lady pulled my file and said she could see that I had filled in the form in a branch on the 28th Feb. She could also see that I had queried it 2 weeks later. She said she would now put an "urgent" on it, and that it would be done by next week.

This is the third time I have had trouble with a Halifax Isa and I am totally sick of it. Each time I have had to chase it up and sit on the 'phone for ages, leading me to assume that it would never have been done properly without my constant vigilance.

If this sort of offer occurs in the future (ie Halifax bring out a new version at a higher rate than an existing one), it might be faster if, instead of you ringing up to redesignate, just open a new one and go through a transfer instead. The reason I say this, is because I opened a new Direct Reward 4, online, and posted a transfer form to them (transfer from Barclays) and it was all completed very quickly (opened on the 5th, they received the transfer form on the 9th and sent confirmation on that date, and the funds were in the new account on the 14th). Backdated interest (strangely this worked out to be from the 5th to the 14th, when I thought it would only be from the 9th which was when they received the transfer form) was added on the 23rd.

Doesn't always go this smoothly (as I posted above). I handed in an ISA transfer form to move my Barclays ISA to Halifax two weeks ago. There was no sign of anything moving, and I also haven't heard anything, despite their promise to keep people informed during the transfer process, so I phoned them yesterday morning. They told me that the form hadn't been received by their processing centre until last Friday (25th) so the backdated interest would only go back to the 24th, despite them having on record that they'd received the form in the branch on the 14th.

I wasn't happy about this, as their ISA promise states interest will be backdated to when they received the form (not when it reaches their processing centre), so they told me someone from the branch would give me a call. They still haven't done. They also told me a letter was on it's way out confirming the transfer, so when I receive that (which presumably will confirm the date the interest is going to be backdated to), I will be writing in to complain.

I'm wondering whether it will be better just to go into the branch tomorrow to query this, but I've already had to go in twice since opening my reward account a month ago, which is more often than I've been to my other two banks in the past 10 years, and I'd prefer to avoid the lunchtime queues. Not very impressed by my first experience of Halifax though.

The money has left my Barclays account today, so hopefully will be appearing in my Halifax one soon. So at least they are going to be within the recommend 3 weeks for transfers. I'm still not happy that they are only backdating interest to 10 days after they received the form though, so I've posted a letter of complaint today. Fingers crossed that will resolve the problem and they will agree to stick to the terms of their ISA Promise.
