Can I upgrade using the link above, and still top up for this year (to make it the full £5,100) before April 5th?

Yes, your allowance usage should display on the updated on too.

I went through it, but it said I would lose 180 days of interest

If any of you have an existing halifax variable isa on a lower rate than the new Reward 4 - 3% you can now convert it online

    Go to www.halifax.co.uk/isaupgrade

just need your existing isa details- don't even need to be registered for their online service.
wow they finally made an online option!

LooieEng what rate you getting on your fixed rate isa? In the majority of cases it doesn't make sense to close fixed isa early to try to switch to another isa

2.8% fixed rate (3% including extra 0.20% for reward customers) with Halifax

That sounds like the isa reward 3 that was on offer from Oct onwards last year. Are you sure you have a fixed rate isa? Because the 0.2% extra does not apply to fixed isa's- only the variable ones. However if it brings up the message about 180 days loss of interest that ONLY applied to fixed rate isa's.

Well you can go ahead and apply to upgrade if you have the reward 3, you won't be penalised.
It will take probably about a week for you to see it converted or get a letter of confirmation, but they backdate it to date of request
