  • Sorry but i have tried to understand what is noted in the "What charges can be claimed" thread but i am not savvy enough to understand how they relate to what i have been charged.

I have the following charges on my account:

    Direct debit set up
    Interst charged
    Referral Charge
    Fees for going overdrawn
    Fees for going over overdraft

Also there are fees that were charged for having a packaged account but i think that i can't claim for them. If i am wrong please let me know!!

Can someone please let me know which of these i can claim back for?

    Would appreciate any help.

Can someone in Northern Ireland confirm this? It says on here the banks have 14 days to acknowledge a claim, but I phoned the courts service and they say no its 4 weeks?

Hi Clare - many thanks for your response - very interesting. Hopefully I will get my money off them too! They must have tonns of people in NI claiming back off them. Thanks for the advice!

has anyone claimed fee of firsst trust bank in northern ireland

i have been using the letter templates and am now a leeter three - threatening with court action, in reply to letter 2 the said they would look into it and reply within 4 weeks as that is how long it takes for them to reply to customer complaints -

i have claimed 3359 and have advused them that if they do not settle satisfactorily i will claim the interest of that and put my court cases into 2/3 to keep it below the small claim threshold

i'll let you know how i get on

    cheers

    p.s.lovely weather over here
  • Hey Everyone,
First off, thanx to everyone for posting on this site - I've got some great advice and tips.
The charges I am claiming back come to £4300, and with interest that makes it £5500. I was shocked to see how much I had actually paid in charges over the last six years, and I'm determined to claim back as much of this as I can.
But what I need to know is this.... I live in Northern Ireland but my bank is Alliance & Leicester which of course is in England. However, Martin says that in Northern Ireland the most I can claim back is £2000 (£5000 in England & Wales). I'm not greedy - it's the principle, and I don't want to settle for 2K when I'm owed over 5K.
So can I file a claim with a county court in England since that's where my bank is? Or do I have to do it through the Northern Ireland Courts?
If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it, or even point me in the direction of a thread where it's already been discussed.

    Thanking everyone in advance,

    Jyl

By the way..... isn't it a beautiful day....?????:rotfl:
  • Okaaayyyy..... no answers to that one.....

    How about this then...?

If I have to file a small claim in Northern Ireland, can I split the charges into two groups of £2000 each and claim that way? Is that ok with the courts?

If not, and I'm going the whole hog, what's the difference between using small claims and civil??

Surely someone out of the thousands who are replying to other threads must have some idea???

    In the meantime, Cheers.

Have a read of this website http://www.govanlc.com/jurisdiction.htm for options regarding claiming in NI and Scotland.
