i had: M telephone,
XL tv, V+ HD box,
sky movies package and
a phone line.
i rang up to say that a SKY rep had knocked on my door saturday and that i was offered a great deal to join them but, i wanted to give virgin a chance to price match.
at first i was offered the extras i wanted at full price - then half price then we haggled for a little longer
now getting: the same - plus: sky sports package (norm xtra £8pm),
10GB broadband (norm £21pm),
2nd box upstairs(norm £10pm),
£30 credit and
free installation (norm £40)
all for only an extra £11 per month. BARGAIN!
it is obvious that they do things on an adhoc basis and have a certain amount of discount to play with.
i found it helped to write everything down as it would've been even more confusing otherwise. at one point he tried charging an extra £30pm just for sky sports package.
after a deal was agreed i checked if calls were recorded - they are NOT.
i then took his full name in case anything went wrong.
i dont think they're regulated as the guy was happy to put down other companies.
he said he was a sky customer himself and their broadband was 'crap'. i obviously asked why he was with sky and to dig himself out of the hole he said Virgin couldnt cover sheffield! lol
this was obviously a porkie and i hate it when companies put down their rivals.
at the end of the day im happy because i believe i have got a good deal for myself.
when you haggle with anyone - if YOU believe that you have a good deal - haggle some more - if they wont budge - you've still got a good deal.
also, i think he was happier to agree to my demands as it was just before closing time. lol.0 -

Just called Virgin mobile as my contract expires in 2 days and wanted a Nokia N8. Tesco Mobile are offering a free handset with 750 mins, 5000 texts and 1g data for £20 a month and I wanted to give Virgin the chance to compete but the guy said he couldnt match it but could do it for £22 a month. What would make me stay with Virgin I asked him to which he couldnt answer and gave me my pac code.
Bit disappointed really as I had no issues with them but hey ho off to Tesco I go or should I wait a day or two to see if they call me back?0 -
Hi
I rang virgin mobile last night for my PAC code - I had already sent for an offer through e2save - 300mins, 300texts 500mb - 24 months at £15.32 reducing to £10.85 with cashback with free HTC wildfire
I honestly wasn't bothering with a retention offer as I had checked online at the virgin media customer offers so I reckoned they weren't going to be able to do better.
But the agent offered me same deal as above but for 18 months and 1gb allowance - £10.64. I am very pleased - as I'd rather have 18 months anyway and the cashback was by redemption which I have done before and know how easy it is to miss one. Just waiting for it to arrive now:-) I refused delivery on the e2save deal.0 -
Thought I'd bump this up & see if anyone has been offered any good deals. My contract is due to end in a few weeks & I'm after an Android phone hopefully for about £12 a month, if Virgin havent got any deals I'll have to start looking elsewhere.0

Mine is due to end in mid-June, so I'd be interested to know what is available too. I was after a Desire ideally but currently pay £15 per month and don't really want to go any higher with the price.0

Virgin didn't offer me any deal, they even retracted an offer they had made and the customer service person laughed at me, I complained and didn't get a great response there either, need to ring again to get my PAC code.0

Has your contract actually expired though? Maybe they will give you a ring and offer something.Virgin didn't offer me any deal, they even retracted an offer they had made and the customer service person laughed at me, I complained and didn't get a great response there either, need to ring again to get my PAC code.

Yes it's expired - I rang back and asked for the deal they offered when they rang me, nothing too outrageous, just a very bog standard phone on an 18 mth contract... but vodafone have a better deal on it anyway.0
