Has anyone had any decent retention offers from Virgin?
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S2 which is coming to the end of an 18 month contract with Virgin on 10 Feb 2013.
I currently get 600 minutes, 600 texts and 1GB of internet for £15.74 a month. This should have been £35.74 a month but I get a £20 customer loyalty discount applied to my bill each month.
I've now had two phone calls in the last two days from the customer loyalty team at Virgin advising me my contract is due to end on 10 February and trying to offer me an early renewal but then have basically been told they cant give me any better deals.
I can have an S3 on a very basic package for £33 a month with less data and minutes or a S3 mini for £32 for same mins/ texts as I currently get. Or a Samsung Galaxy Ace for £21.53 month for 600 minutes, 3000 texts and 1GB data.
The best deal they can offer me is a 12 month SIM only contract with 400 minutes, 3000 texts and 1GB of data for £12.32 a month. This seems pretty rubbish when their SIM only deals offer a better deal on a 30 day contract.
I would prefer if possible a new handset even if it is another S2 as I need a new battery and a repair to the main button on the handset I currently have.
Has anyone been offered a better deal? or am I better simply looking elsewhere?
Many Thanks

Firstly i would like to say that i'm not a virgin media customer and just have the one mobile sim
firstly i was on their £12 a month - 30 day rolling contract, this gave
1200 mins
unlimited texts
1 GB data
after about 4-5months i decided it would be a good time to get a better deal and since virgin had put a new unlimited plan (unlimited everything) for £15 i was told i could get unlimited data on top for the same price (£12 monthly)
just today i phoned them, (this was actually only a month after the previous upgrade) and i quoted amazing deals from the hukd forums (hot uk deals)
the deal i had seen somebody get was
2500 any network mins
unlimited virgin to virgin texts and calls
unlimited landline calls
unlimited texts
unlimited data
for only £5 a month, (was shown proof of it by a bill)
i was told i could not get this but i got 2 different offers, either this above package for £12 or the same package i was on for £10
i am a very heavy user though and use almost all my mins ad alot of texts/data
but this shows virgin are great at giving deals so just give them a try (always try to just get to their leaving department straight away instead of getting transferred there and just make like you wanna leave they will fall at your feet, i am gonna phone them again soon because i really want unlimited minutes/ a cheaper deal (yes i am very greedy)
also always make sure h deal you have is the very best, just be cheeky and say, is there no other bonus you could add/ cold you not do it a bit cheaper. and lastly do not be aggressive, just be calm and friendly and when you ask for the sun you may actually get it0 -

Just renewed Contract with Virgin Media.
Got a free Samsung Galaxy S5 handset.
Unlimited calls & Texts
2 GB data
Insurance included (£150 excess though)
£30 a month
New customers with Virgin media services can get the above deal for £36 so a slight saving0 -
Hi PaulF4N
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 but using a SIM only deal.
What I found, via Google, was that when using Wi Fi incoming calls don't get through and texts messages are either late or don't arrive at all.
Switch to 2g to get incoming calls and text when using Wi Fi
Samsung and Virgin are working on it so I am told.
I'm guessing you were not told this ???0 -

Anyone here having problems with their Galaxy S5 ?
Still getting no calls and late texts with WiFi switched on.
Cannot get a straight answer about a solution.0
