well I had been cut off so just rang and said ' i was being put through to the save team' so they then reconnected me. but as it was they hadnt put notes anyway so you could just try and ring the ame. if not just ask to be put through to upgrades.
i have a freephone number. i can post it later as its upstairs. but it takes you through to the samepeopl eyoud get by calling 789. - or ring 150 from home phone and ask to speak to someone about mobiles and they always trasnfer me.

Might be worth hanging on if your contract is up for renewal or switching to a rolling monthly contract, I phoned Virgin today as my contract is up next month, told the man they didn't have any phones I liked (or wanted to pay extra for) He said that Virgin are having a whole new range of phones in April (didn't specify what) so I've changed to a monthly contract for the time being just to wait and see what they have on offer then

Thanks I will try again and use that line about being cut off :) My useage isn't massive but does go over my £10 thing most months sometimes by £8 sometimes as little as a couple of pounds so don't think that is helping me get a Desire! Just feel miffed that loyalty to Virgin isn't rewarded :( Have 2 more handsets to buy as twins birthday next month and they are getting one each so will drop that in too!! :)

I think their range of PAYG phones on the website at the moment are rubbish as looking for 2 for my kids who are getting them next month for their birthday. Maybe they will lower the price of the Desire then if they are getting new stock in ;)

    Hi,

Just letting everyone know how I got on with Virgin Mobile retentions today...

I've had a monthly-rolling SIM only contract with them for 3 and a half years, 300 mins & 300 texts for £10 per month (I know, I know, rubbish by today's standards!) and I decided it's high time that I got a better deal. (I should mention that my household are Virgin Media customers.) I rang them earlier and told the man that I was going to cancel unless they could offer me a deal that I was happy with. I want a HTC Desire and, at first, they claimed that they didn't have any in stock and that they could only offer the Wildfire but, after saying that I would just go elsewhere, they magically 'found' a Desire.

After much haggling, deliberation, and telling them I would just go elsewhere countless times, I eventually got offered a HTC Desire with:

    600 any network minutes
    3000 Virgin to Virgin minutes
    Unlimited texts
    1gb data (internet)

For £14.53 per month with a free handset.

The only downside is that it's a 24 month contract but I'm really pleased considering that this was exactly the tariff & phone I wanted. This contract from them is normally £25.53 per month plus £100 for the handset so it's a massive saving.

I did have to push an awful lot to get this, but I'm very glad I did. Just be polite and speak with a smile on your face, it can work wonders!

    Good luck!

    Couldn't get anywhere near this!
Despite quoting the above deals of £15.43 etc ('that my friend at work got') etc and spending best part of an hour on the phone to various departments, they wouldn't move off £20.42 for HTC Desire.
    Got PAC now.

are you a virgin media customer?

  • just been offered 300 mins unlimited texts 1gm data with htc desire for £18.53 without going through to retentions. I couldnt get him to pass me on to anyone else. I said id think about it, think i will accept though!

Did you have a high spend with them previously. I have got an £18 contract at moment and hubby has £10. Both in my name and contract finishes 3rd April. I would like htc for hubby and this deal would be brill. I fancy htc hd myself. I am happy to pay around £25 a month and £20 quid hubby. Hope virgin offer me a deal but I am not media customer.
