WELL! Were finally getting somewhere..... Our phones werent working this afternoon so I called them to find out the problem...anyway the lady was more interested in upgrading us and put us through to 'upgrades team' where after a while I was offereed a wildfire for 18 months, 200 mins, 3000 texts, 1gb net for £16.46 a month OR if I wanted less minutes etc it was 100 mins, 500 texts, 500mb for £15.4* and both with the free phone. Do you think this is a good deal? she said it was £25.** but shes saving me £9 if I take the £16 option. which I think I will.
  • Hi, rang up virgin yesterday was on a 30 day contract, after trying for ours to get to retentions I finally got through the chap I spoke was nice. And he offered me 400mins unlimilted texts for £7.15 they will be giving me a credit on my account
  • My Virgin contract is coming to an end in February. Should I wait for them to call me or should I call them for renewal? I won't renew unless they offer me a good deal because I'd have to pay at least £2 a month more on their current rates to get the deal I've got now (which isn't that great).
I haven't had a contract to renew before in the same way as, until this one, I'd always had sim-only deals, but I have been with Virgin for a long time now. Advice would be really helpful.
    Thanks.

read the entire thread, the best deals can be got by calling up and asking to cancel, then getting passed to the retentions team who can offer better deals to try and get you to stay :j
  • Thanks! I did read the thread but wondered if there was a tactical advantage in waiting for them to call me. I called today in any case and was offered HTC Wildfire with 200 mins, unlimited text and unlimited data for £15 per month. HTC Desire would have been £20. Not sure that I really need a new 'phone so have gone onto the £10 SIM only deal on monthly basis with same allowances as above, plus Virgin to Virgin calls, and one month free rental. My main interest was in keeping costs down rather than replacing my current 'phone, which is fine for what I need at the moment and robust enough to cope when I drop it on a regular basis!
Thanks for other helpful posts. They gave me a good idea of what kind of deal to expect.

Until recently they were offering customers 600 mins, unlimited texts and 1gb internet deal for the same £10 a month you're paying - still on a rolling 30 day contract. It was a retentions deal for customers leaving to go elsewhere for a better deal.

Might be worth phoning them back. Make sure you tell them you're thinking of leaving them.
  • Right, i just called to say im thinking of leaving because I didnt think the current deals were good enough, and she gave me my PAC code and told me it gets disconnected on 28th feb.... shouldnt I have been passed to retentions? I wasnt offered any deal at all and she was quite short with me to be honest!

Be patient - you've obviously been passed through to the wicked witch of the west. Someone will likely call you and if they don't, you've got 28 days to change your mind.

    Hi Guys

My first mobile contract is up on the 13th so i logged on to Virgin and rang their renewals team and told them that i wanted to leave as i'd seen a deal with phones 4 u for a t-mobile desire HD 900 mins and 500 text andunltd data £25 a month for 24 months. They offered me 1000 mins, unltd data and texts for same price. Then...offered me 150 mins and 150 texts and unltd data for £15 !! Then if i pay £77 i get the same deal but 250 texts on an 18 months deal. Prob gonna take it. Does this sound good to you guys ? Not tried the 'i'm gonna leave' tactic in case they say 'okay then bye !'

    Joe
  • Just bare in mind that, by Virgin Mobiles own admission, their computer system is not recognising deal 'codes' and you will end up being charge full rate which will be taken from your account by direct debit and you will have to phone them every month to tell them they are over charging you, where you will speak to someone who claims to know nothing about what you are talking about. Virgin's customer service sucks. They offer good deals... shame that they can't actually stick to them without having to phone them every month to get your money back (cause they won't phone you).
