Menopause Matters

So is needing to dye your hair more often tied into the Menopause? if so, how strange, as I have just noticed that my roots seem to come through more quickly, never thought about any connection with "everything else" though.
I think this thread will be a great boost to those who don't have anyone else to talk to about it. All my friends have had Hysterectomies so are not going through the same issues as me, and sadly:( my mother is no longer with us.
It is making me think back shamefaced though, to when she was going through it, and how unsympathetic I was....she used to say "your time will come" and boy was she right!! she had such odd symptoms, and I remember thinking she was a hypochondriac and now I find I have some of the same symptoms......
Mum, if you are watching :AI am sooo sorry for not being more understanding, and I am getting my just desserts.:)0 -
Wait a minute mods & Martin:
Menopause is not a medical condition - I find that assertion extremely offensive & patronising. As if we are ill.
It is a natural part of life.
This board is the best but the attitude that has been displayed towards the menopause has left me deeply shocked at the lack of understanding & ignorance & insensitivity displayed by the mods - some of whom are women. That is shocking.
It is like it's the last taboo.
I heard one local guy talk about his wife & say now she's a certain age she's a witch. It is as if that is the attitude - albeit watered down , getting voiced by the mods.
I don't wish this moved to the arms - where a load of cheap insults a7 jibes are made by 'jokey? blokes.
I would be greatly interested about the yoga stuff.
Cheap herbal remedies can sometimes be less efficient than dearer ones - you have to check the active ingrediants & RDA.0 -

On the hair thing. I was 100% grey by the time I was 35 - can't blame hormones for that, its genetics.
Anyway, the past few years my hair is definitely thinning, but oddly I find that I need to get my roots done every 4-5 weeks. How come my hair is growing faster in length but it's getting thinner? lol..anyway, spending £50 every month at the hairdresser to get my roots touched up became a luxury I can no longer afford. So I now colour it myself, but those pesky roots show at 3 weeks. I can get away with it till the 5 week mark but then out comes the L'oreal !0 -

Same here. I was in my early 20's and thought my mum was either neurotic or just feeling sorry for herself.
So also to my mum, if you're watching, :A I am also sorry for my lack of sympathy.0 -

Feeling quite tearful now....yet another bloody symptom:o
Me too...it's like having really bad PMS for 30 days every month!
I feel terrible about how little support I gave my mum. I'm an only one, so she had no other daughters to turn to, just me and I was just too busy getting on with my own stuff and didn't understand at all.0 -

Me too. I have a brother, but having 4 sons and an OH I now realise how little they understand or empathise.....it was down to me, and I failed.0 -
Ladies, I feel left out! I am 53 and after reading this thread, I'm worried because I don't have any menopausal symptoms.! What's the matter with me?!!!
:rotfl:
I don't think my mum had too much trouble either. I was living away from home by then, but I think I remember her saying she was about my age too.
Out of curiosity, any older ladies reading here, who got through the menopause relatively unscathed?
Wondering what might be lying in store for me??!!
From a money-saving perspective, we're lucky to be the generation who've benefitted from the internet as vast source of free information on all aspects of the Menopause, as well as support, which is really helpful.0 -
Hi fellow menopausers
hope all is well, i'm two weeks into taking my hrt and am doing ok, are we allowed to talk about anything? xxx
I've spent some time over my posts today to try and explain what can be talked about on MSEsorry if I wasn't clear enough
I even included a long post by the Forum Manager stating the rules of the boardWait a minute mods & Martin:

I find this post quite confrontational in that I'm spending time, voluntarily, trying to help people keep this thread. It's not always easy balancing the rules against what the members here want, or think they should have! Sorry to all the posters who were happy to try and keep the thread within the rules of MSE
so I'm going to follow the forum rules regarding contencious threads, temporarily close the thread and refer the matter to the Forum Team. As this is the weekend and they obviously receive thousands of reports daily this may not be immediate.I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
