Menopause Matters

Those frustrated by the closure of the "menopause threads" this weekend, I think feel that the subject has been side-lined, while long-standing support threads exist on MSE for topics such as Pregnancy, Miscarriage, Difficulty Conceiving, Depression, and Aspergers, which are not purely money-saving either.
Anyway, I thought the following link may help posters who are looking for forum support re the menopause. For ladies who are experiencing symptoms or difficulties, the magazine also has a very informative and current website, which has an active and wide-ranging discussion forum.

Good link, thanks for posting it, I`ve used it myself in the past. At fifty, I`m in the throes of the menopause...got the hot flushes, mood swings ( but hey, not much difference from PMT
) and various aches, pains and ailments. Ironic, that just as we reach an age we are beginning to get comfortable with who we are and what we want, the body decides to give us hell!
I don`t see why the menopause can`t be discussed here..perhaps a disclaimer in the first post could be put along the lines of, no medical advice or knowledge on this matter is inferred or upheld here, kind of thing?
I`m pretty sure, wild mood swings aside, most of us menopausal women are fairly sensible, down to earth people quite capable of having a conversation about it without being silly."Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!"0 -
Thats the website im visiting, its very helpful and you can ask just what you want without your thead being locked, unlike on here
So if you are TTC, have diabetes, aspergers, or are pregnant thats ok, if you are menopausal, like me and the other ladies TOUGH you cant talk about it.0 -
Im many years away from the menopause (i hope) but im just replying because the menopause must be a huge thing in a ladies life. Its a chapter of life that has been closed, just like pregnancy is an opening of a chapter, all worthy topics.0

.....menopause is also a new chapter of life opening....pregnancy-free sex and no more periods :T0 -
Very true, this is going to be locked very soon im sure. x0

.........just to add, no more having to pay out good money every month on sanitary products (just to give it a money saving slant!!)

As you can spend a fortune trying to manage the many, varied and hellish symptoms of menopause I would have thought moneysaving and discussions about menopause go hand in hand.
Was it a sexist or ageist decision to lock the menopause thread do you think? Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
I'd like to add my support for this thread.
My menopause is exhausting and hellish. Yes, some benefits, but far outweighed by 5 years of hot flushes and chronic insomnia. It's not an illness, but an inconvenient fact of life for millions of women.
My money earning has been adversely affected by the menopause so any moneysaving tips very welcome.
I'm astonished threads about it have been closed. There are ongoing threads about teeth, not all moneysaving, which give all kinds of advice.
Sexist? Ageist?
Probably."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
I'm interested, joyfull, (with 5 years of probs, I admire your optimistic user-name!)
How do you feel the menopause has affected your earning capacity?0
