Oh the sex drive. Or lack of....
My long suffering & lovely man bribes me with puddings! Trifle is my favourite."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Shykins, I did the same by not mentioning the supplement I was taking - not sure if that was why the last thread was deleted but did not take the chance. Although if this one helps I will be looking for the best deal on it.
I used to wake at 3 or 4am then rotate like a pig on a spit till it was time to get up. This last week has been 5 am - what a treat and I mean that.
You sound well fed up Dawning and I am sure you have everyone's understanding and support here. My confidence and self esteem has gone down the toilet this last six months and I keep trying to give myself a kick but sometimes it just doesn't work. I am also hoping to get back to work but having been a SAHM for so long I don't know where to start and the thought of interviews etc makes me cringe, I just want to curl up somewhere and yet I know we all have a lot more to offer than we realise if we could only see it in ourselves.
Joyfull I wish I had thought about suggesting the puddings mmm...:T0 -
One other symptom of the menopause...when we get `normal` illnesses and aches, we feel them more, if that makes sense. So a headache, years ago would just take a couple of paracetamol and got on with things, nowadays it seems to linger and be more painful. When I do still get a period, the cramps hurt more.
Och, I`m an auld moan, I know it!
Like Dawning, I really resent becoming invisible. Unlike Dawning, I have always been fairly ugly, but somehow youthful vigour made up for it. Now though? I came back on the wee bus from Golspie today and it was full of young folks and I found myself getting melancholic about it, thinking, jayz, I remember being that young....sigh....whereas, based on my own experience of being that age, they of course never registered I was there at all!
I also found out that shop workers are less polite to you too...."Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!"0 -
I don't feel invisible so much as insignificant. I know they can see me  they just can't be bothered with me. I have no importance.
Another thing I haved noticed (having just showered and dried my hair) is that my hair is definitely thining. I always had really thick hair but have noticed that there is less at the temples and the rest does look thinner.
I am starting to feel like an old f**t and I point blank refuse to become one without a lot of kicking and screaming on the way - no actually I just refuse.:cool:0 -
I'm having major dental work - getting most of my teeth extracted - and plates made. Just have the top front 6 teeth to come out next month & then a fortnight later most of the front bottom teeth - feel like I'm a right old bag.
My face seems to have collapsed a bit - hopefully when i get the plate it will help to fill out my face again.
My hair seems okay & still hardly any grey but I still have long hair & wonder if I should get a bun! Only kidding about that. I do think there is too much cult of youth & we have a right to be a bit worn around the edges. These women who have all the botox & fillers all look a bit false to say the least.
It is all a natural part of life whether we like it or not. I think we have to dress bold. I wear cheeky hats, but I am a bit mad.0 -
Choille, I`ve got long hair too (down to my bum) and am constantly under pressure to get it cut (usually from other women!) but I refuse, simply because I`ve always had it long and love it. Get a bit distressed sometimes though, because like Firebird, it`s thinning.
However, til I go positively bald, I`ll keep it long. :)The cult of youth is pretty scary...I see actresses the same age and older than me looking like they have twenty something heads on middle aged bodies (despite the dieting, purging and workouts to exhaustion) and think, why, for gods sakes! Doesn`t look natural. Saw a survey recently that stated men do prefer natural women on the whole, at least if they`re looking for partners they do. Women with curves, and character. So I`m puzzled as to who they are striving to please, really, with the cosmetic surgery in overdrive and so on.
Because, if I really think about it, a world that values youth and beauty above all else is a pretty crappy one.... not saying there isn`t a place for it, we`re all drawn to beauty after all. But it shouldn`t be made a god. And it is.(and if you want the MS angle on that, well look at the absolute fortune the cosmetics, fitness and surgery trades must be hauling in!!)

red doe aint that the truth about illnesses seeming to linger more. i used to have cast iron tum now i seem to be one of those 'delicate' people i always used to laugh at
oh i so agree about the fake looking 'young' people. in a way i sort of feel sorry for the young as they feel they have to live up to a certain look which sort of makes them all look the same - or is that just an old lady talking lol
xWhen you know better you do better0 -
Hi Red doe - hear you on it being other women who put on the pressure re the long hair - weird.
Yes - we are all just trying to get on with things & I think the celeb makes it hard to view ourselves as normal when they have had so much work done & thrown so much money at artifical 'inhancers' for wont of a better word.
Another sweaty night - I must say I don't like this profuse sweating & almost sleeplessness. I seem to wake about 3am & then just toss & turn.0 -
same here choille am sort of fed up with seeing 3am, 4am and 5am <sigh> tho one MSE point to all these hot flushes i havent turned the heating on yet!!When you know better you do better0
