I might try putting a quilt under and see what happens. I think it is so "warm" because the foam moulds to your shape and so you are surrounded by it. They are famous for being"hot" I used to start off the night with a hot water bottle too but there would be no point now. I thought I could try putting a "cold" hot water bottle down on the floor and then grabbing it in the middle of the night when a power surge comes upon me!!!!:rotfl:
Oh for a whole night of just sleep.:oEnough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
So glad this thread is back!
Teachergirl, I had memory foam pillows which were great for neck problems but the heat generated woke me several times a night! Do you have pillows too? If you do may be worth changing them instead of the mattress. I put mine on Freecycle and they were taken straight away so very MSE for someone else!0 -
Hi esmy. No my pillows are the normal sort. I was wondering though I have heard of something called a Chillo or something like that. I was wondering does anyone have one? Are they any good? Also importantly where can we buy them cheaply????Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0

Glad the thread has been resurrected:T
I like the idea of a cold water bottle. I remember as a kid when we used them and then in the night your feet would touch it and it would be freezing arghhh. It would certainly be a lot cheaper than a chillo so I think I will give the bottle a try.Haters are gonna hate - you're not obliged to participate0 -
Thank goodness the thread has been unlocked.
I think man made fibres are out re over heating wise. I have one or two tops that are stretchy & must have polyester in them - I would be as well wearing carrier bags. I just seem to be sweating most of the time, but I'm not having redness with it0 -
Is anybody here on HRT? I'm not sure whether to go for that or just spend lots of money on herbal remedies etc. Or both.
I had a baby 5 years ago and since I stopped breastfeeding my periods have been very heavy. I'm concerned about osteoporosis because my Mother and Aunt both lost several inches in height during their forties.
Does anybody have anything positive or negative to say about HRT?
Is it better to tough it out spending money on things to ease each individual symptom or is it better to have my peri menopause medically managed?
I'm after anecdotal lay opinion here from people experiencing the same thing - not medical advice.0 -
ok looking at the chillo it just seems t obe one of those flexible cool pads like u use for pain relief. so it occurred to me u could just use one of them wrapped in a tea towel inside your pillowcase. might be worth a try?
problem i forresee with the chillo is what if u arent hot ALL night then u would have a cold face half the time - coolbox by the bed?
heidi appreciate u arent asking for medical advice but i dont want to comment on anything that could be construed as such, especially as we have only just had our thread re opened.
seems to me eveyrone is different anyway so what works for one doesnt for the other hence making ANY treatment difficult
