Menopause cake recipe
http://www.naturalmenopause.net/menopause-cake.html
Whether it works or not, it's full of nourishing stuff, trouble is I am a bit of a greedy guts and don't really need the tempatation of any sort of cake sitting in the cupboardIt would be quite expensive to buy all the stuff initially, but you'd have enough in the store cupboard for a few cakes after that.
Menopause Cake sketch....don't click if you're easily offended, please! Made me laugh though

funny enough my flushes are usually after midnight, i dont often get them in the evening. had quite a few last night which was good cos its frosty here and hub was cold but after sticking his cold bits on me he was warm and i was cooler - see there is some use to them lol (u have to laugh dont u otherwise u would cry)When you know better you do better0 -
Morning. Have a look at this thread - looks interesting, though I'm not sure about the prospect of periods starting https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5420300

Hi everyone,
Well for the last few days I've been feeling much better...thankfully. I've had no flushes....my heads more 'with it' than it has been for ages...and I don't feel as tired....don't know what I'm doing right...but hey.....who cares...it works for me! Lets just hope it lasts.......0 -
Can anyone tell me, do all these issues go away after menopause when the hormones settle down or are we stuck with it for life now?
I think we all vary, some walk through it, some do come out the other side eventually and some still have the hot flushes long after or they never go away
I have been going through mine for many years and my hot flushes range from unbearable (every 40 minutes, feeling sick, some times panicky) to 'Oh haven't had much of a problem for ages' but usually when that happens I have a 'Little Visitor' after 12-15 months. Then once the period stops the flushes return with a vengeance
This has been happening for a long while, I first started with mild flushes about 9-10 years ago, these gradually got worse and worse. The periods became so heavy I was having to be doubly protected, change every twenty minutes. They would last either a day or ten days, re-appear in a week or four weeks.
I had the LadyCare magnetic device at one time and was quite sceptical about it but it did seem to work and worked for some time, but then I had a period and has not really worked since. So I wonder if i really did any good or whether I was just going through one of my phases where the symptoms waned?
LadyCare - http://www.ladycare-uk.com/ladycare-p-28.htmlEverything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
a friend tried one of those ladycare things she felt it was a waste of money but as we keep saying what works for one doesnt for another so its all trial and error (not to mention costing a fortune)
i do wonder if sometimes its the placebo effect in play here - tho if it is who cares if it works!!
my periods got so heavy and frequent i ended up having an ablation and whilst it hasnt helped the symtomns i dont actually bleed anymore (sorry if thats tmi)

Hello lovely ladies (and Gents?) I thought nobody was posting because for some reason my instant e-mail notification seems not to be working. I am getting desperate about the lack of sleep . I don't seem to have it bad compared to some people maybe only waking three or four times a night but it is hard to be at work when you feel so tired. Also it is very un MSE to have the balcony door wide open when the temperature is -0.5 degrees outside. My DH has moved to the spare room and he doesn't feel the cold!:o
I don't know whether to spend money on a herbal thingy or try the magnetic thing. I am very sceptical about the magnetic thing but after reading the thread even I might give it a try. I need a good nights sleep:( In fact yesterday I went for a run in the evening(I never do this as I am a morning person) and then had a shower and went to bed. I only woke up twice. Not sure if it was the run or the fact that I am so exhausted from not sleeping properly for so long.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Hey Teachergirl, the sleep thing does get to you. It is difficult to say what to try but when you find something that works for you hang on to it.
I tried the Kalms nightime ones and it didn't make a blind bit of difference for me but I know they have worked for others.
As you say it it sometimes difficult to know what actually works or if it is exhaustion taking over until you have tried the same thing a few times. I have been 5am and 4am all week and this morning 6.20 when the alarm went. Tomorrow i will probably be back to 5am(which I don't mind but hate 4am)
Beware of excercise close to bedtime as they say it can keep you awake longer with the chemicals it releases in the brain but yet again whatever works.:cool:0 -
teacher maybe the exercise helped - even if it just made u feel even more tired. i do feel better when i exercise i have to say but it could be just sheer exhaustion.
weirdly as it was so cold i had more flushes last night than i had for a while. maybe its the full moon coming thats affecting us all!!
we all have to be aware that we cant give medical advice of any kind on here as we risk this thread being removed, so always ask your gp before taking anything that u may have read about here or anywhere else. (sorry i know i am repeating this but we dont want to risk our thread for anything that could be construed as medical advice)When you know better you do better0 -
iI tried the magnet a couple of yrs ago and it was dramatic - stopped the flushes immediately. Just to test it I took it off & flushes returned. After a few months I took it off & the flushes returned. Back on the magnet - nothing! it hasn't worked since.
Teachergirl I so feel for you with the lack of sleep. I've often been awake for 3 hrs at a stretch. My saving grace is that I'm self employed & can rest in the day. I find having the radio on in the background can be soporific, at least you're focussed on that rather than fretting about not sleeping."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0
