Morning ladies, had a bad night. Couldn't get to sleep even though I was exhausted, then woke up twice with sweat pouring off me, thought the bed was on fire. Luckily I'm working at home today but have to go to the office tomorrow and it's going to be a 5.45am wake up..eek.

Can anyone tell me, do all these issues go away after menopause when the hormones settle down or are we stuck with it for life now?

It's ok, unusual tasting at first. It only comes in thin sliced as far as I'm aware, so it's not great for toast. It's expensive, but then all bread is these days!

I'm assuming and praying that sleep will improve when not being woken by flushes so presumably when they stop....

I read recently that withdrawal from oestrogen, which is what we're all experiencing is harder than coming off heroin. Food for thought.

I'm resorting to small amounts of an over the counter sleeping pill (non herbal). I take little nibs as and when, & it does help a little.

I swear that when I went out earlier with about 5 layers on cos it was so cold that I started steaming when assailed by a ferocious flush.:rotfl:

aaah the joy of lists etc. another good MS idea is to have a timer, i kept forgetting things were in the oven or what time i put them in now i just bung the timer on for 15mins or whatever to remind me

i have a recipe for flaxbread (same as linseed) which isnt bad am sure that would be as good as the burgen as u could always add other seeds. some people say soy isnt good some say it is

dawning is it the flushes waking u up or just u cant sleep? i am awake at stupid o'clock but its not just the flushes and a friend has had insomnia since she started the meno. am hoping these things settle after a while (should have a little praying smiley here lol)

I sure hope the sleeping gets better. 4am for me this morning although I have not had much flushing and less anxiety this month. I will give it another month or so and see if this herbal remedy is helping with the hormones.

Yes for me it's that I cant get to sleep even though I'm tired, then I get an hour or two of sleep before I wake up with the night sweats.

I find that some of my most frequent flushes are between about 6pm to about 11pm. I'll just be drifting off & over & over again wake with a flush, sometimes only minutes later.. Very frustrating indeed. And then of course feeling annoyed adds to the insomnia mix.

now see the menopause cake thats another thing i had heard of but forgot. what does it taste like tho? dont want to buy all this stuff and it tastes yuk, also if it has sugar in thats no good/QUOTE]

It tastes good - there are several different varieties as well, so if you don't like one there is another one to try. The cherry and the date & walnut are my favourites.

And no sugar, just natural sugars in the dried fruit.

I sometimes heat a slice of the cake up in the microwave and eat hot with a dollop of creme fraiche on the top - mmmm. Or slice and spread with low cholestorel spread.
