  • Hi everyone, I just love this thread. It makes me feel so much better, sometimes I just think its me being pathetic. I am usually a really energetic person but my the menopause has hit me for six. What I want to know 'HOW LONG DOES IT GO ON FOR?' I don't think I can last on a few hours sleep every night. Oh well, stop moaning and get on with it girl that's what I try and say to myself. Enjoy your day, looks like its going to be a good one.

Afternnoon ladies, who would be a woman? no periods for 6 months then last month out of the blue, the one from hell,.....and today exactly 4 weeks later another one. What is that all about? I am just getting over the effects of the last one, and here we go again. Really fed up today.

So, does anyone have any advice on where to get the cheapest vitamin supplements and which ones are most beneficial? I am also thinking of getting some of the linseed bread too, it cant hurt can it?

I want to get through this naturally but still feel I need something to make me feel human. Thank god it is half term and I am not facing a class of 16/17 year olds, this week, but I had so many plans for catching up on housework...

Aw Poet - try not let it get you down - easier said than done.

I don't know if cheap, cheap vitimens are as good - you have to check the RDA - recommended daily allowance & see if they have enough in them. Saying that I find the supermarkets pretty good & some folks reckon Holland & Barrett when they have offers on. I tend to buy in Morrissons when they have 3 for 2 offers on & buy bulky tubs of fish oil, glucosimine & vit c. I got a pack of multi vits & minerals specifically aimed at women going through the menopause - menopace there cheaper than I've seen it elsewhere, it's got the soy stuff in it that is recognised as the natural equivalent of HRT - though of course not as natural as the bread.
They (medical proffession)recommend cutting down on red meat & caffeine & eating a balanced diet - but I think that tat is recommended for everyone really. I do like my coffee but tend to lay off after 8pm.
I take the fish oil & the glucosimin as we - OH & I have creaky achy, knees & joints.

Know how you feel with the long gap and then again :( I hadn't had one since the start of the year then had one 7 weeks ago, and again a day ago.
Can't offer any help with the vitamins as none work on me. Tried Soya, Black Cohosh, Macca Root you name it nothing works for me.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

Thanks, I think that I may feel better when all this "build up" is out of my system, but will probably need to start taking my multi vit again. I dont have caffeine except in tea, rarely drink coffee and then usually decaf, we do eat quite a lot of red meat though, so I maybe need to look at diet.

I am also getting creaky in the mornings and not sleeping so soundly, and am still tired when I wake up, and cannot get comfortable in bed. I might try that Ladycare thing if it works it is worth it, better stay away from airports though, imagine explaining that one to security?

I would like to also add my support to this thread. No, I don't suffer from the menopause (YET) but I will do and I don't see how this threads like this one are any different to the other support threads.

I don't think anything works for everybody. It is just a case of we all have to try different things, give them a go for a couple of months & see I suppose. You could actually spend a small fortune.

I'm really glad my anxiety has lessened - that was scary stuff. I don't know if it has just passed, or if it was because of the soy supplement/menopace. It's hard to say, but I'm just glad that has calmed down considerably.

I thought I'd got a spare tyre appearing because I'd stopped smoking, but I think it's the menopause, or perimenopause as I think I should say as I had a period a couple of months back - I think.
This waking early on & all sweating stuff & not getting back tp sleep is a right pain. Sorry moaning on now.

Hi all. . . . luckily I haven't been too bad lately. I have always slept well. Thankfully. I do still have hot flushes now and then...and a few Months ago had awful anxiety and panic attacks...so bad that I thought I was having a heart attack! I also feel much more alert at the moment..which is a nice change as I often feel exhausted with a 'mushy' head. I haven't had any periods for roughly six Months...lets hope thats the end...and I don't get any more....;)

Just out of interest....thought it might be nice to state our ages on here...so we all get a better idea...of how the 'pause affects us with differing ages. I'll start ..I was 50 in May....

I was curious about that today too! According to my birth certificate, I'm 53 next month . Really? How did that happen!

    I'll be 50 next year.

Dogcat - glad your anxiety/panic attacks have eased too. I was the same with the almost feeling I was about to have a heart attack. I don't want those back.
