Just tried and it came up with a page with a phone number and a link to continue to home page.
Home page still loading after 4 minutes, must be server problems.0 -

Something I may have to consider myself in the future, missing Royal Mail out - at least until they get taken over and they start doing what they advertise and are paid for. Royal Mail in my opinion deserve all the bad press they receive on this and other forums, a shocking service (for premium service) which never seems to improve. A bit like another company getting bad press on here!!!!!!!!!!!

If I believed in conspiracy theories I might be inclined to accept that there's one giant hand guiding these two organisations behind the scenes... and a few more besides!0 -
By way of light relief and picking up on the conspiracy theories, I am trying to track an (unrelated to Mobiles.co.uk) item on Royal Mail.
Tracking wasn't working all day yesterday.....and again (so far) today. This helpful information comes up:
"Due to maintenance of Tracked Drop C involving Despatch Management Online deployment upgrades, Tracking, Redtag, and Master Data Systems (Kalido/RDM) will be unavailable through midnight Saturday 16 October 2010."
Not sure that I subscribe to conspiracy theories either but makes you think...0 -
Yes, Royal Mail tracking was down yesterday. The Royal Mail "signed for" service has had issues for ages now and it's well known that items are just posted as normal mail (especially non-business addresses) sometimes. This gives a problem, especially with Ebay items which could then be classed as "not received" and having to go through the claim/compensation process. Luckily, Royal Mail do pay up for "lost" items, but you do have to wait 15 working days before they class an item as being lost.
How many people don't bother claiming though??
I wish Martin Lewis would launch a campaign into the Royal Mail "signed for" service - sometimes it bordering on theft, they take payment for something and don't provide it!!!!!!!!

Bordering on theft - how so?
As a norm, Royal Mail tracking for signed for items can take upto 7 days to see the proof of who signed for something. I have sent well over 50 parcels signed for delivery in last year and not had an issue with them. I did get two problems in about 3 or 4 years when item was deemed as lost (or someone was claiming not received) and each time I got compensated.0 -

The answer my friend is the bit on the end of the sentence.

If people do not claim, then how are Royal Mail to know something is lost?. They do investigate lost items if you inform them. I do not see the problem to be honest. If anyone is really anxious, they offer special delivery which cost a bit more than 75p-90p odd for signed for.0 -
