100% (or near 100%) ....................cashback deals are NOT sustainable - hence the declines/delays etc., many have got to fail - just make sure it's not yours.

Trust me, Lynsey, I have used the small claims system twice and have 2 MCOL judgements ( not against mobile companies, though) in my favour, so I would have no hesitation in doing so if the one cashback with mobiles.co.uk I am monitoring for a young friend was refused.

I agree that cashbacks rely upon customers failing to claim or failing to adhere to t&c. That is as acceptable as the overbooking system for airlines and hotels.

What is decidedly not acceptable is the rejection of honest claims by customers and relying on the fact that they are too lazy/scared/ill-informed or even poor to start the legal process, as I am sure you will agree. And it is this last point that I can't get my head around as this would mean getting ordinary previously honest staff to conspire to this totally unacceptable form of dishonesty.

OK - my first claim's gone in via Royal Mail. Would rather not have had to shell out £1.15 but decided against the route mobiles.co.uk would prefer we use. When I took out the contract I printed off pages from the website and T&C's were in very small print on the invoice. Applicable cashback T&C's for a April 2010 contract - can I somehow compare notes Lynsey since we appear to be in the same boat? My porting issue wasn't a problem in the death, incidentally. Appreciate it if you can help.

    cheers, and good luck,

    Chunks.

That's ok chunks, we should go along similar paths. Both April contracts, so October bills are correct and so far my bill has reached them according to Royal Mail, but no signature as yet for me and I'll allow 5 days for that before pestering Royal Mail yet again (this really is a "hit and miss" service with bad publicity as well). Cashbacks are normally delivered in bulk and a list given which are normally signed for once checked. No acknowledgement by email as yet, please update if and when you have received this and so will I.

Good luck to you as well and this little "diary" may help others, or even show how bad this company can be - we might be pleasantly surprised and it may go as it should (as per their T&C's), that would be nice.

Roger, will do Lynsey. I am sure there is another way to do this but I haven't figured it out yet.

You seem to know what's what Lynsey, so I figured that you are an appropriate role model :D

If it doesn't work - you can forget the Christmas card:rotfl:

    cheers again,

Sorry Guys Dad for not replying earlier, but I do know where you are coming from. I understand why you may want an "insider" to "spill the beans" for all the declines/delays etc. It would make no option to the employee unless there is a financial incentive (bonus) or perhaps their future employment was "more guaranteed" if they play along with the companies tricks - who knows?? It may just be a game?? It's just a pity they weren't fined heavily for legitimate declined cashback claims - though this may prevent them in the future (100% or nearly 100% deals).
I always go along the lines of "just honour what you advertise - nothing else".

You must be the chosen one this month to receive proper service.

OK, I have now got to first base with the delivery of the claim. Snailmail was in this case the supercharged version and the Recorded Delivery, First Class - like Ronseal Woodstain - did exactly what it says on the tin. If only others would emulate this evident success (and contractual commitment).......

PS. not inviting a Royal Mail rant

PPS. Has anyone else noticed that they try and cross-sell when you go to the post office now - it's like going into a bank only worse? You go in for a second class stamp and come out having opted for Special Delivery (9am guaranteed) and travel insurance (they wish).:rotfl:
  • You might; all they ever get out of me is a second class stamp - although not even that with this dealer.

Being tighter than a duck's vent, my standard response MJ (when asked the equivalent of 'Do you want a 'flake in that?') is to decline and ask instead for free money.

Will work towards the saving of the stamp route too incidentally...

Update number two - claim acknowledged by email. From what I can gather, it must have been turned around within an hour.
