Anyone noticed the option to submit a cashback claim - 'emailing my bill' option has gone? You cant attach a bill anymore.

https://securesite.mobiles.co.uk/contact-cashback-team.html

Update 22/09/10: Is it back up now. Form is here: https://securesite.mobiles.co.uk/submit-bill.html

• That's actually good news. People using that option got stuffed because it didn't work and some of them "trusted" it for far too long after getting no acknowledgment. I always made sure my people didn't use that method. Er... there's always the post (among other things!).
• You could email the information required to the cashback team on cashback@mobiles.co.uk or print off your bill and send it (and details required) to the team at the address on the page http://www#mobiles.co.uk/cashback.html (replace # with .)

I'm glad it gone, it wasn't reliable and a disgrace customers were being denied for a sysytem failure on the retailers behalf - that's if there was a failure!!!!!!!!!
I've always been suspicious of this way of claiming, yet it should have been nigh on perfect. My devious side suggests it was a ploy to avoid getting a signature and the assumption it was going through the system when it wasn't, which meant you could miss a claim.
Pay the £1.15 and get the signature - it's a small price to pay. If it doesn't get there or you don't get the signature you can cliam back the cost from Royal Mail and re-send.

Hi Guys,

The link in fact is still available but not where the website directs (as stated above). The website seems to be down at present (so I cannot post the link) but the 'contact us' route will take you to the appropriate place (via a couple of screens).

Personally speaking, with my first claim due to be lodged next month, I am concerned that the idea of redemption deals unless backed up by a transparent/reliable methods of reimbursement is flawed. Some may say, that's the business model (make it very hard to get the redemption pay-out) but I cannot comment.

I would appreciate any tips on getting a) the claim 100% water tight and b) presenting the claim in a manner that mobiles.co.uk cannot deny (recorded post seems the option).

Any one with positive experience (the 'net seems rather full of negative accounts, unfortunately)?

cheers,

I noticed today there is a submit bill option on the contact us page but I am pretty sure it wasnt there yesterday. https://securesite.mobiles.co.uk/submit-bill.html

Also the links on the cashback page are now redirecting to the above link so it seems they have just changed it. http://www.mobiles#co.uk/cashback.html (replace# with .) Yesterday they were redirecting to https://securesite.mobiles.co.uk/contact-cashback-team.html

I sent an email yesteday to JKane the mobiles.co.uk representative on MSE about the option to send a bill being removed so she may have had something to do it with reappearing.
• Don't use it.

Having now done some research (belated I know) I see that mobilejunkie has produced an excellent tutorial on the subject of getting paid. Having read his post, I am happily rather more well prepared than I thought I was.

Two questions:
1) I ported an existing mobile number almost immediately after taking on the phone so my invoice from mobiles.co.uk shows a mobile number different from my bill; and 2) going to LBA stage appears to be a step taken after you have demanded payment yes? - in other words a) you submit a valid claim b) it's rejected, c) you say nonsense and ask them to pay up (and they dont) then d) you issue a LBA.

Grateful for any input re 1) and 2) above particularly 1) which appears to be covered in the T&Cs of mobiles.co.uk but I wanted to be sure and take the right steps up front, so to say.

cheers,

Chunks, I have a ported number claim going in soon (12 days) and when I ported I got it confirmed by email that the ported number had been changed from the original number on my account. If you haven't already got this confirmed, it would make sense to do so. When I claim I always send a letter explaing what is expected and this time I'm also stating who confirmed my porting and when. I also give them the option to have the email forwarded if wanted. :D

Regards to LBA'ing them, once a claim has been rejected send a LBA immediately giving them between 7-14 days to sort it or tell them to wait to be contacted by MCOL and act accordingly. So in effect you would miss out on plan (c), there is no need to jump through hoops - as long as you are correct of course.

Good luck to yourself and I'll post in due course how my claim went, though when they see my letter they will know what I'm after. ;)

• Without notifying them beforehand (best to allow a few months for them to get round to dealing with it!) there is no real way you can expect them to know that it's the same contract. I have never ported, but advised two other people I look after to only do it after they have it in writing (individually) from the horse's - er - "mouth".

Thanks for the input guys. When I took out the contract, I raised the topic of porting and got an email from mobiles.co.uk telling me how to do it. The cash back terms on their website mention your not getting paid in cases where (among other reasons) “.. you do not remain on the original tariff with the original handset and number (or ported).”

Mobilejunkie makes a fair point and I can see that Lynsey too has spotted a potential trap. If I get my provider to confirm that the original number (that mobiles.co.uk ‘supplied’ with the mobile) became the number on the bill, then that should be that. In any event, and I am no lawyer, I would think that the act of porting should not in isolation be a valid reason for rejection because their own terms (as stated above) allow for ported numbers but the condition is silent in respect of notifying them (if that makes sense).

I know it’s a case of buyer beware (there are reasons why I failed to observe the logic of this doctrine that I won’t bore you with) but it seems extraordinary that an industry exists to attract the unwary and then put them at financial risk with obscure/opaque conditions. In the long run such a business model is doomed.

Frankly speaking, at the end of the day if I don’t get paid, it won’t change my life one jot and arguably, if you can afford a contract mobile, you’re in a similar position (generalisation, I accept). That said, I hate the thought of being ripped off and I hate hearing about others being similarly exposed/treated. On the other hand, I do enjoy a challenge so, bring it on. :D
