• caffinebassman - when you changed your flexibie booster did it show up on your bill?

Also was your orignal tariff called 1GB Web n Walk, as if it has now become 3GB Web n Walk surely thats a change in tariff? They may pick up on this on a later claim.

Out of interest did you post your claim or email it?

Flexible booster changes show up yes but since it's the included Free Booster it doesn't constitute a tariff "change down" so should not be an issue with cashback.

Originally my account was setup as follows from my first bill ("Charges summary" section).

"900Mins&500Text(24)30 £25.53

You get 900 minutes and 500 texts on this 24 month plan.
Your minutes and texts are from the UK to UK mobile
networks and numbers beginning 01, 02 and 03
(excluding Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man)."

"Internet Booster (FB)

Internet Booster gives you unlimited internet on your
phone in the UK"

After I called they added "Web n Walk (18)" which freed up my Free Booster. This month for example it looked like this (note I change the FB during the bill period too - this was the bill I sent for my cashback claim)

"900Mins&500Text(24)30 £25.53

"EU & Aus Booster (FB) Free
Europe & Australasia 5 Talk Booster gives you 60
international minutes for calls to Europe & Australasia from
the UK"

"Euro Booster (FB) Free
Euro 5 Talk & Text Booster gives you a £7.50 allowance so
you can make up to 17 minutes of calls, receive up to 39
minutes of calls or send up to 68 texts whilst in the EU"

"web'n'walk Plus (18) Free"

I'm aware that I might just have got lucky though when I called them (literally 1 day after I got the phone so maybe that helped.

You make a fair point it might be a problem down the line - but since nothing I have done constitues a tariff "change down" hopefully it will be OK. I think this is the key don't "change down" then it won't reduce mobiles.co.uk's commission from the network.

I emailed the claim via their web site - it actually timed out on the first attempt and I though "Aye here we go" second attempt was fine.

PS YMMV I'm not making any recommendations here only relaying my experince

Thanks for the clarification on Royal Mail. Frankly speaking, having got the acknowledgement, I had kind of moved on (to ready myself for the next challenge).

So, gold star for Lynsey and a refund for me.

Did you put in a claim Chunks??
I've been told I'm getting "compensated", probably a book of 6 x 1st class stamps. I'll update once received.
Looks like free postage (plus). lol

"900Mins&500Text(24)30 £25.53

Therefore your tariff has not changed, thats good enough for me although ofcourse we need to be ready if any of these issues arise from them.

On slightly off topic questions do you know how you check the remaining allowance of your flexible booster? When i send the text message to 150 for my balance i oly recieve information on my minutes and texts remaining?

Hi Lynsey,

Sorry just back from a trip and only now saw your post re Royal Mail.

I printed off the claim form but couldn't see that apart from reporting the fact that their business systems show similarity to a much loved mobile phone company (so not all that), a claim could be prosecuted.

Failure to produce the ePod didn’t appear to be a category specifically covered, so I went off on my trip. I was going to have a word with the counter clerk when I went back to work (the Post Office is just down the road from me).

Stupid question but was yours not a different issue – no confirmation let alone a missing ePod?

I did get confirmation that the letter had been delivered, but they didn't produce the signature - hence the claim. I paid 74p for proof of signature and they failed to provide what they charged me for.

I did get the book of 6 1st class stamps as compensation, but strangely not my 74p?? I'm just settling for the stamps as I'll use them. Hopefully same again next time. lol :j

Clearly you have staying power Lynsey. Guess that's why you get your cash back claims paid :D

I will have a word down at the PO and see how I get on - like you, I did pay for something I didn't get.

cheers,

I think it depends on what booster you are using. Make sure (before you change your booster) that it is definitely not supplying your internet allowance - you don't want a big data bill.

With 150 I send AL (allowance) and BA (balance) I think. You can also text HELP to 150 to get the options. Failing that call them?

By way of update, some news just in (well, this morning), first cash back cheque received. Since the time frame for the whole process comes in at less than 20 days, I would classify this as acceptable.

Clearly, with almost £200 of claims still to make, I won’t be lighting up a Cuban any time soon, but it’s a start.

Again, for those that have contributed to educating the great unwashed (or at least this one) thanks a lot.

Cheers,

I ordered a phone with cashback yesterday from mobile.co.uk and it was delivered today, earlier I searched and found many negative comments on the web about the cashback system and was just about to send it back until I read some of the helpful threads on MSE including this one. My deal is free phone and then 16 months out of 24 free by cashback in 5 claims. As I received the phone in November I will need to claim within 60 days each time using the May, Aug, Nov 2011 and Feb, May 2012 dated bills.

It is interesting to read the recent 'succesful' experiences of nickp8,lynsey and Chunks under guidance from mobilejunkie, which has helped me to feel more confident of getting the cashback successfully if the rules are followed. I have some confirmation queries though:

1) If I claim online is it best to use the web form or email cashback@mobiles.co.uk. I think that I would prefer to email so that I can see the Bill file attached rather than just the file location (by browse) that shows on the web form. If I use the email address do I add all the information requested on the web form ?

2) If the web/email claim is received how soon do I get an OK/NOK response for it being received ? and when should I be concerned and resend or use Recorded Post instead.

3) If I decide to post the claim or double up the email claim by Recorded Post do you just send the Bill or covering information as well. The web site says just the bill will do.

4) Is the jkane@mobiles.co.uk email contact still valid in case of problems.

I have the weekend to make up my mind about staying with mobile.co.uk or return the phone and cancel the contract, so your answers would be appreciated.
