Do I get a prize MJ (doesn't have to be expensive)?
What I was going to do was figure out exactly what the impact of the rise was (in cash terms). Mine is a 15 month half price line rental for an 18 month contract. The question is when do you start your calculation from? If you regard the front end of the contract as the full price element, then more of the VAT is recoverable (I think). Since you have to wait 6 months before you can even claim and we all know how efficient/timely that process is, logically the deal could be argued as back end loaded.... or maybe pigs might taxi for take-off?0 -
The t&c state that cashback should be paid in EQUAL payments; therefore if the dealer neglects to pay it that way (regardless of when the VAT increase came in - which was, in fact, 4th January) they have broken your t&c. In my case the dealERS in question have paid a separate cheque to cover the difference. I still have the same extraction to come for another dealer (and am trying to help those I look after become amateur dentists too) - but in when VAT returned to 17.5% from 15% was successful with them to. Once you have your January bill it isn't THAT demanding to calculate what the difference will be - all you need is the start and end dates of the term of the contract and the VAT from February onwards, combined with that charged to date.
Every little helps... but it's the principle too.
By the way; if you have a contract with Buymobilephones it all depends WHEN it was taken out. From late August 2010 (think it was without checking!) they specifically excluded changes in the cashback so you'd lose out (one of the reasons I stopped using them a few months back).
If I give you a prize it would only be because others have been so slow...0 -

even to be considered for a prize, albeit the fastest of the slowest award, makes me very proud MJ - thanks.
Totally with you with respect to it also being a matter of principle, particularly if the beneficiary of not receiving the right amount is who it is.
Wouldn't it be nice to think that cashback cheques are raised for the correct amount without any input from the customer's side. It may happen of course (and I will apologies accordingly) but pork with wings springs to mind (........again).0 -
Oh, it did with one dealer - when VAT went down they automatically paid slightly less; right down to the exact penny over the proportionate term of the contract. Shhhh.... you know who!0

I having a problem with my final claim.
Contract 12 month term ended December. Final cashback claim is for the December bill. The final bill I got from Vodafone clearly states it is for usage upto the end of the contract - 12th December but the date on the bill at the top is January.
Mobiles.co.uk say the claim will be rejected as the date at the top of the bill is in January. Anyone else has this problem?0 -
I doubt it, 'cause they would have sent in the December bill just like you should (still) do.0

Well what happened is I never got a bill in December. I rang up querying this and requested a copy of my latest bill in and received a copy of the November bill (says copy bill on it). I rang up again and was told the final bill for December wouldnt be made till January.
The December bill I have received in January has the goodbye letter from vodafone with it and doesnt state it is a COPY BILL like it normally does when you request a copy and like on the November bill so it is the original final bill. It has a account charge for the copy bill I requested in December and then a credit for this charge.
I have never had this before with any previous cashback claims. I dont understand whats actually gone on here.
Update: All sorted. It was Vodafone who were giving me wrong info about the bill. I finally managed to get the correct bill just in time to make my last claim and the cheque arrived two weeks after the final claim was submitted.0 -
If mobiles don't play ball and assuming vodaphone cannot/wont oblige all you can do is argue the wording of their/your T&Cs namely that cashback wont be paid 'if the incorrect monthly bill is received.' which is the point on which this turns.
Your bill dated January 2011 (= incorrect) but covers the correct billing month December 2010 (= correct). The T&Cs don't say that the the bill date and bill month must coincide. Your explanation is that you ARE submitting the correct monthly bill. There is a reason why the dates/period differ and if you can back it up with evidence from vodaphone should give you an arguable case. Open and shut case - no - but arguable.
Of course, I am trying to argue reasonableness here. I can think of at least one person who will state 'reasonablness' and 'mobiles.co.uk' cannot be connected in the same sentence but might be worth a shot.

I get my bills on line, so this might not apply to you. I can get a breakdown of my calls showing "from" and "to" dates on each bill. Now if these are consecutive, then it's fairly obvious that there is no bill missing.
Send both November and January bills showing that you have not missed a bill, inform them that you expect confirmation that they will settle within 14 days otherwise you will commence MCOL.0 -
hi- sorry a bit off topic but what is general feedback for getting cashback from mobiles.co.uk. Are their requirements too unfair? i dont mind having to send a bill off by recorded delivery within 2 weeks of bill? but they do i have to keep chasing them? My O2 deal on CPW has come to an end and they cant offer something decent, so am looking to move. thanks0
