Sadly I'm inclined to agree with jnm21. Mobileshop are pulling excuses out of thin air. I was told something similar but not the same before I was finally paid 3 weeks late. The way I see it is that either mobileshop have cashflow problems and are struggling to make ends meet or they are trying to maximise on earning interest on our cashback monies by holding onto it longer. I believe that the 45 day limit had been increased to 60 days recently but for contracts taken out earlier this would not apply. Perhaps Mobileshop are determined to apply this time limit or longer to everyone regardless of whether it was in their t&cs or not.0

Just received my third cash back today, 17 Oct, which should be paid into my account 19 Sep. Almost one month late as they promised. I am starting to worry about the 4th cash back payment now. Of course I already cancelled my contract since it was 1 year enough. Now I am using pay as you go sim, just think it is better wait untill I received my 4th cash back payment.0

Received this email today:
We are pleased to advise that your claim for cashback voucher 61501B at a value of £90.00 has been processed for payment, please notify Mobileshop.com within 3 working days if your bank details have changed. The payment will be sent to the bank on Friday for a bank transfer this usually takes a further 3 days to be processed.
I won't be buying another phone from them, their cash back T&C's are now a joke. 45 days was long enough but there is no way I'm ordering another 2 contracts with them and waiting up to 85 days for my cash back.
They now have some of the worst deals on the internet.0 -

I'm pretty certain I'll get my money within the 45 days after the expiry date, I had no problems with my last claim and I also received my cash back prize cheque for £100 yesterday.mulerider wrote:Received this email today:

Can't see any reason why you complained. Your deal sounds good. Cashback plus £100 price cheque. To be fairness, someone has to pay for that.0 -
thought I'd post here. I sent a claim for my 1st £90 cashback a few days ago. They emailed me confirming getting it and are also offering me alternatives to the cash they're supposed to send me. Here's what's on the list:
Argos Vouchers worth £94.50
Pink Table & Chair Set
Portable 8" DVD Player
Not a bad idea really.
I'm going for the cash btw0 -
My sister just claimed her 1st cashback no problems, sent through fax which was really convenient, received email confirmation prompty. Now its just a question of waiting for cheque to arrive but no doubts it will.0

Seems to be part of the new process to ofer alternatives - peronally offered £110.25 of Argos vouchers for £105 cashback. Also send the vouchers within 30 days rather than having to wait for 60 days after expiry of voucher (in my case, about April!) therefore seems a reasonable offer (if you are going to spend in Argos anyway).

No, what Mobileshop are saying is correct. Network operators are not just paying up immediately - they are paying the commissions bit by bit every few months in the same way that retailers pay out to consumers - ironic, but true.
However, this does not mean that Mobileshop does not have a cashflow problem. The reason I stayed away from them in the last year is purely because of this.

In August I was told that o2 had changed the way that they pay commissions and as a result, this had caused them to have to delay paying cashback. However, others received different reasons (including problem with BACS) which is perhaps why some people have suggested that Mobileshop's reputation is slipping. That said, apart from the issue in the summer delaying my payment, they have acknowledged receipt as soon as they have received it (by email and text message), notified me again when the 60 days is up and the payment is being processed and have paid 2 out of 4 cashbacks so far (another due this month, have cashed in the final one due in April for Argos vouchers this week to save the four month wait - should be with me in 30 days).
As a result, apart from being a little concerned with the initial delay, I am reassured by their systems (including being able to log in to check progress) and would probably consider them again should they have 12 month free on 12 month contracts again.
As an aside, the Price Guides at Hugh Symonds are always an interesting read to see what the different networks are pushing:
