Woohooo...I've finally got my payment!!! A full 66 days after the voucher expiry date. Although I am well relieved I don't look forward to claiming the rest of my cashbacks(I took out 2 O2 cntracts via mobileshop in July & August)

Well I received my cashback payment yesterday, 24 days late but paid in the end.
  • My payment day should be 20 Sep. But still have no sign of any money into my account. Just finished my one year term...I don't think I am going to take a new cash back deal. (untill and unless I want a new phone)

I had just replied to another thread about a cashback delay with Mobileshop - perhaps worth merging? Appear to be some delays being experienced by some customers.

    Many thanks

Perhaps it's just that people who are happy with the service are less vociferous than the few who have had a problem?
  • I am interested in getting an O2 Nokia 6111 Pink phone from mobileshop with a 12 month free contract and would welcome advice.
I got a phone from them recently for my partner. My questions are:
    1) Can I get a 2nd phone or should I do it in partners name via quidco?
    2) Itemised billing. I will not use all free airtime. Do I need itemised billing
for a bill to claim monthly line rental cashback?
    3) I shall cancel insurance. If phone is stolen can I put on stop on it being used, continue to pay monthly charge and claim cashback.
    4) Are there known problems with this phone that I should be aware of before going ahead?
    Advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    1. I am not aware of any restrictions on getting a second line, assuming you pass the networks credit checking. This way you should be able to recommend yourself, or go through quidco.

    2. I do not believe you need itemised billing for cashback claims, only the bill pages showing your name, address, account number and tariff.

    3. If you have your phone stolen you can have it barred by the network, there is no reason this would affect the cashback so long as you continue paying the contract. Obvisouly with no insurance you will need to buy a new phone yourself.

    4. Can't answer this but a quick search on google for reviews should help.

    quote from mobilshop website:
Why does it take 45 days to process the cash back claim?
We need to perform checks with the networks to ensure that there are no problems or outstanding balances on your mobile phone account and that you are still connected, before we can pay your cash back claim.

    My question is
since they take about 60 days to process the cashback now, on the month 12, when I reach my mini contract, can i cancel it? or i've to still connect to them to get my cashback?thanks in advance.

I cancelled my contract at month 12 and still received my cash back.

I emailed them to make sure. their online help service was very useful
  • Latest email from Mobileshop:

Thank you for your email, this payment has been delayed by 2 weeks because of the changes in the commission payments made to us by the networks have changed, this is what we pay your cashback from.

We do apologise for this delay and can confirm this payment will be made direct to your bank account 18/10/2006 and will clear to show in your account 7-10 days later.

    Hope this helps

At least I'm getting my cash back - this claim is worth £180

Well I can tell you for a fact that that is b*ll*cks! BACS is a 3 day process i.e. send day 1, process day 2 & in the bank day 3 (all working days - eg send friday, process monday & pay tuesday). DON'T LISTEN TO ANY COMPANY WHO TELLS YOU ANYTHING ELSE.

I am very disappointed by the seemingly endless stream of excuses they are said to be giving - quite glad I haven't got any cashback deals from them.

Currently, I'd be more tempted to go with coolnewmobile, etc. than mobileshop (but I'd rather wait to see how this all pans out).
Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!
